Topping DX1 mini desktop DAC & AMP

For $50-60, they are a great choice, but I would never pay $90 for them. I also have the desire to try the HEXA :) Maybe in the future I will. Now I also have the option to consider getting some DT990 headphones after buying the DX1.
I listened my Beyerdynamic DT 770 250 from DX1. The sound was blurry. I bought DX3 Pro+. The sound stage has become larger, the detail is higher, definitely better than DX1.

Maybe the USB port you plugged it in with didn't provide enough power and your headphones are a little bit heavy.

Hi! By distortion I mean that it has high noise levels. Almost like television static over the music. That accompanied by a very low volume.
I forgot to mention that the transition to low volume and distortion sound occurs about 1 hour after use and starts with a loud sound, something like a mini BOOM.

Kind of weird, maybe an issue with power.
I think so, but it seems to be from some part of the circuitry that fails to maintain the required amount of power. First I bought an external USB HUB with its own power supply, it didn't work. Then I tried a dual connection USB cable used for external USB disks (One for data and power, plus one for power). It doesn't seem to work either.

Do you know what part of the circuit regulates the power? I would consider buying the part and re-soldering it so I don't lose the device.

I'm not sure but maybe @JohnYang1997 can give you some insight.

Hello,

Can you confirm whether this dac/AMP enhances the treble? I plan to use them on my windows 10 pc with sennheiser HD 650 headphones, high gain.

I read 1 comment from someone who thought they were brilliant...

I'm very sensitive to high frequencies.

Thanks a lot!

I had this DAC. It has very soft and comfortable high frequencies compared to DX3 Pro+, which I also had.

Apart from the comparison, do they emphasize the treble? (Even a little)
No. I didn't hear anything like that. On the contrary, I love high frequencies and with this DAC I always wanted more. At the same time, I hate the upper mids (2-4 kHz). These frequencies are also called lower highs. Perhaps it is these that you don't like, and not the highest ones? In any case, the sound of this DAC is very comfortable, I would even say analog.

Hello everyone,

I bought it. It's good quality for the price.

I still don't know if I should use low or high gain because I manage to get a comfortable volume on low gain at not even 50%volume.
But my HD 650ohms have 300ohms of impedance. I'm still new to hifi headphones, so please forgive me if my question seems easy.

Thanks!

Nice :)

Generally, if it goes loud enough with no noticeable distortion at low gain then use low gain. You should only need a higher gain (which comes with increased noise, even though that may not be audible) if you can't listen at the volume you want.

Enjoy
