@Dreamic

I certainly hope they fix it soon, so that whatever Windows OS you're running will be fine with it later on.
I'm running Windows 11 Professional, version 25H2, with all quality/security updates.
Still don't have this issue... if it does appear for me... I will post back and let you know so we're both in the loop.

Ok, so I tested some 48khz (24bit, connected to USB 3.0 which should provide about 4.5w of power) and I still have some bugs, but nothing as severe as in that video
As I start to play a youtube video I get some noises which sound like the microphone is not working properly. But if I play it repeatedly the bugs occur in different places.

I've repeated the same clip with DX5 II and it's bug free.

How does the balanced out on the back work? Does it come with a 4.4mm to XLR adapter?
I'm using a 4.4Bal to 6.35(L/R) cable connected to my Pioneer DJ VM-50 speakers.

Or DIY. I had some leftovers from previous experiments, so I threw it together quickly. The measurements are very good, so I'm unlikely to replace it.View attachment 541374
I bought mine from aliexpress, but I'm not connecting this DAC to the main system yet... more firmwares first

dCS Varése performance for $113. All that’s missing is an accent in the name and b-roll footage of a bearded white guy lovingly tightening an m3 screw to the chassis.
The rest of the market is just charging us for marketing budgets, brand prestige, and the weight of the aluminum/metal chassis. With the DX1 II, you aren't paying for the narrative; you're simply paying for the raw engineering of a distortion-free signal.

It may turn out that when using the balanced output, even with the existing software, you won't experience any popping issues, clicks, or other extraneous sounds. I also have a working previous SMSL DAC. But I like this Topping for its simplicity and capabilities. And perhaps I'm short on patience :) . Well, as I've already mentioned elsewhere, it was nice to get back to Topping and have the unused input enabled. I don't like the SMSL's behavior in this case, and I was glad to put it away.

Does the PEQ deal with both amplitude AND phase? Is it possible to load calibrated room correction profiles (e.g., output from Dirac Live)?

Topping Tune allows you to import filter impulse responses in TXT, CSV, MIC formats. However, I wouldn't rely on them too much. Calculating precise filters with a large number of taps requires significant computational power, which is unlikely to be available on a $130 DAC.

Please excuse my ignorance. There’s only one line out socket for balanced out on the back. Don’t you need two for stereo (like the red and white RCA)?
It is a 5-pin TRRRS pentaconn connector so stereo balanced as well as stereo single ended all in a small 4.4mm diameter single jack plug.

Leaving L/R Cold disconnected and using only Hot as single-ended output usually has some unfortunate side effects like increased noise, distortion, and DC offset:

Not usually nor for all devices but is likely in this particular case as the RCA out is not optimal in the DX1.

Cheers, but if the extra noise and distortion were an issue, would they not have shown up in Amir’s measurements?

Hi Amir, new to the forum but I've been following your posts for a long time. Your work is appreciated. I've been looking for a USB DDC with PEQ so I can apply PEQ to any DAC while being able to do exclusive mode (rules out eq apo). The DX1 II fills this role, and as a second benefit, I'll have a backup dac/amp if something goes wrong with my stack.

Would you be able to measure the optical out performance? I use some older DACs sometimes, and it would be good if I was sending them a good signal considering they don't all reclock the input.
