It doesn't matter where the signal is weakened. I checked it in Camilla DSP. It has an overload counter. Setting this attenuation removes all the overloads I could detect.

If I remember correctly, other members made it work with newer firmware. I shall update the review with that info. I’ll try myself when I find time.
It's an option in the Advanced Settings on the web interface. You can also choose whether it follows volume control.

I just bought one on amazon for £102
In all the time Ive had it, USB C connection to my Windows 11 PC, used with a pair of headphones for gaming , not a single hiccup. Needs to be in high gain to give the power of the DX3 Pro, but then again I dont have a 4.4mm balanced cable to get max power. Im pretty impressed with this unit. If your needs are not great, this would work amazing

like your tv , computer , if he were off it will not detec the opt wire , go to menu and ton of post for support
Forgive my simple-minded question, but I just wanted to verify that the Topping DX1 II would enable me to apply PEQ to the optical output of my CD Player, and then route this equalized digital signal through optical output of the DX1 II. Above all else, this is how I'd like to use this device. Thanks for your help clarifying my fuzzy comprehension...

Yes. And easiest to setup is using the Topping Home web app. Search for YouTube reviews maybe on how to use.
I appreciate your response. I was uncertain whether PEQ would function on optical-in to optical-out with the DX1 II. (Back in early July there was some discussion on Amirm's review of the DX1 II where NTTY stated he could only get PEQ to work with USB-in to optical-out, but that issue seems to have been resolved.) I wanted to double-check this because a purely optical signal path is all I want to use on the DX1 II (no digital-to-analog conversion, and no amplification). Do I understand correctly that the problems of pops, clicks, and distortion that several users have reported can be avoided if I just use the digital optical signal path for equalization on this DAC? Thanks in advance for assistance with this question...!

Yes, I'd be buying the DX1 II just for the PEQ. Over the years I have collected literally thousands of Classical Music recordings on CD, and I own so many CDs it would take forever to transfer them to digital files. I want to optimize the frequency response of headphones when using my CD player as the music source, and the simplest way to do that (as far as I can tell) is with hardware like the DX1 II. This Topping DAC/Amp is the least expensive equalizer I've seen that would work in this application. However, I've noticed the frequent comments on ASR documenting the intermittent pops and distortion produced by the DX1 II from its analog outputs, so I'm hoping to avoid those problems by using only its optical signal path, then routing that equalized digital signal to a more reliable DAC/Amp that I already own. For my specific needs, $120 is a modest cost for a good headphone equalizer (especially when compared to similar components that cost much more, and the major cash investment I have already made in my CD library).

Thanks for the suggestion. The Qudelix-5K is a versitile dongle with 20-band PEQ, but it lacks an optical input. I want to apply PEQ to the signal from my CD transport, so I need an equalizer like the DX1 II with an optical input that will allow me to make the connection between the 2 devices.
