Topping DX1 II — persistent buzzing noise on 3.5mm TRRS mic input

Is this normal or a defective unit?

When plugging in a headset with a TRRS 3.5mm cable, there is a constant electronic buzzing on the mic recording channel.

The noise stays even when the headset mic is muted on the cable, and it persists even when running a laptop on battery power.

If you own a DX1 II, could you test your 3.5mm mic input and let me know if yours is completely silent or if it also has background noise? Thanks!

Try a different headset or any phones.
One possibility is an internal broken contact to the mic, or the wire in the lead that connects it, or the connector, or the socket - i.e. it could be pickup if a wire is acting like an antenna.

I tried other headphones, other wire, other devices

It's still under warranty - return it.
FWIW, my DX1 Mk1 works fine with my Truthear Gate IEMs (with mic) - I just tested this with Audacity on my PC. I'd be surprised if the Mk2 was not the same.

Maybe try on a different PC or your phone?

Did you ever figure this out?

I just noticed this on my DX1 II today running on Windows. Pretty sure it was not doing it before when I first got the unit.

Tried the dumb stuff like restarting unit, unplugging / replugging everything with no change.

Update: Seems to be the fault of the USB3 hub I am using. A direct connection to my PC is quiet, but this hub is consistently noisy.

Mine was noisy on all motherboard USB ports, I tried everything I could think of and sent the DAC back to the seller for a replacement.

Have you checked out the (long) threads stemming from the two DX1 II reviews? Several users have complaints similar to yours.
