Topping Dax3 pro + only playing one channel

So I’m brand new to the hobby. and spent a little bit of time doing research. On my first set up something simple to start a pair of DT770s i recently bought a Topping dax3 pro . The issue is the amplifier will only play the left channel. And this is testing it with both my DT 770s and a cheaper pair of known working headphones that I was using on my computer . I figured this was a defective one off unit , so I returned it to Amazon and got a replacement ,but the new unit has the same issue.

Not sure what I’m doing wrong or is just the DX3 known for this defect ?

Not that I know of.

Stupid question, but is the headphone plug inserted all the way?

Thank you! , and yes it’s plugged in all the way , actually the only way to get the other channel to work was me having to hold the plug into the unit extremely hard , but the second I let go the channel would go back out.

And this was the case with both units the first one I bought and the replacement.
