Quickly checking Shenzhen Audio, all the DACs are either XMOS or do not support DSD256 over DoP. Some of the newer ones like SMSL M500 mkIII use the newer XU316 so have asked a question in the review post if anyone noted DSD playback issues.

Here's poor little Khadas Tone1 playing DSD512 in foobar with zero problems.
(I think it shares the same USB interface,XMOS208)
The problem I am having with DSD playback is dropouts; the sound is interrupted, I see my DACs switch from DSD to PCM and back to DSD, and then playback resumes. I’m using DoP over USB on a MacBook Air M2, so plenty of power, and Audirvāna. I can also reproduce with native DSD over uPNP from Audirvāna to Volumio.

Well OP is using a Mac so he can only play DoP, that probably doesn't help the cause since you can't do native DSD but only DoP-encapsulated.

I don't think it's possible to play DSD256-512 DOP.
As far as I can remember every spec I have see DSD256-512 are native only.

One can definitely play DSD256 over DoP, using a DAC that supports PCM 768k — eg. D10s or E30. In theory a DAC that did PCM 1536k should be able to do DSD512 over DoP, but that would be fairly esoteric at this point.

Yes @evan123 is right. Just FYI:
DoP64 requires 176.4kHz
DoP128 requires 352.8kHz
DoP256 requires 705.6kHz
DoP512 requires 1411.2kHz

Only a couple of DAC can support 1536kHz PCM (hence can support DoP512 IF implemented) .... Hole Spring 3 being one of those in the $2-3K price range.

Sorry just a correction, the D10s cannot do DSD256 over DoP, being limited to PCM 352k. E30 (plus pretty much everything from Topping except the D10 series) can, as can pretty much everything else one finds at the top of the ASR list with a few exceptions.
