TOPPING D90 III、TOPPING D50 III

Theoretically it does include some DSP capabilities, but I'm not aware of any product that would implement PEQ with it. I don't think it's a trivial task, otherwise we should have seen plenty of such products. And as far as I understand the DAC's architecture, S/PDIF inputs bypass the XU316.
Fiio btr15 is doing that, bt dsp from the qcc5135 and usb dsp from xu316.

127db SINAD A weighted at 5.2V,so in the ballpark of 123db SINAD as Amir measures (not A weighted at 4V).

The usual modes,etc.

So,what's new?
(the I/V encapsulated stage doesn't exactly inspire confidence)
Mmmmm....124.76 dB @ 4V ?

:):):):)

People would probably complain even more than they are now.

Of course! It’s our job to complain for no good reason. ;)

But still, it could be done, easily.

Push comes to shove, they could fit one TRS in that panel for the sub, and say they made it a different connector so they didn’t get mixed up. Supply an adapter in the package.

Using the old design when compared to the DX9, D70, D70 pro, D70 Octo is major fail at $900.

Failing to add "at least" a second pair of balances outputs when using dual 9039 chips is a fail.

A $900 dac in 2023/2024 should have Bluetooth 5.3 in my opinion, at least they added aptx adaptive:rolleyes:.

Those proprietary black modules concern me with respect to heat management and the longevity of whatever components are inside. Bad move Topping, especially without a quality service network in the UK or the US:mad: Even Jonh Yang had disappeared :D

I don't see them selling very many of these until they go on sale for $700.

RME is killing Topping right now.

So far I haven't had a Topping DAC which gets warm unless it also contains a headphone amp like DX5 and DX3pro+
E70 runs very cool

There's always people with some extra money to burn, this is more for them. Only the best is good enough, even if it is impossible to hear the difference.

Buying is optional, obviously

I currently own the Topping D90 original version, and was waiting for the new D90 to upgrade, but I am extremely disappointed by the design philosophy of that D90III. I was expecting something that follows the same design philosophy of the DX9, without the amp, of course. What was Topping thinking; this is really a stupid decision. I never used MQA, and would never use it, therefore, I don't see myself paying for something that I have no use for. The dual ESS is a good thing though.
As someone pointed out at the head-fi forum, Topping keeps spamming us with the exact same product over and over, and wants to charge us more for it at every iteration.

Have a lot of you failed to notice that almost all consumer facing industries do this.

computers, monitors, phones, tablets, tvs, cars... Every single year their is a new model that slightly different slightly better( depending on how you quantify better) than the previous year! Software is even worse, as a lot of companies push new versions multiple times a year now.

Topping DX5 lite is cheaper than DX5, same with E30 II Lite vs non-lite.
You don't actually have to spend more money..

When was the last 90 series released?
Which one is the last? I'm a bit confused. Is it the D90SE? Or the D90 LE? Or the D90? Or the D90 MQA? And why there is D90 III but there is no D90 II (or is there)?

There is a choice going D70 route picking between ESS or CS dac option, way more modern device with completely new design, including display that is multifunctional. I own Octo from this series and its amazing device.

PEQ involves levels,it's a huge responsibility, you HAVE to know that this stuff is rock solid before you even hook it up to the rest of the gear.
I suppose testing it against worst case scenario will take time,so...

I was thinking about this too, on how to make PEQ foolproof for the end consumer, and i guess that if you apply a gain reduction equal to the maximum band gain you can apply, lets say you can add 10db per band so your PEQ module always sets the preamp gain to -10db so no matter what you do you cant exceed the original FR peaks you can make the whole procedure safe. In the end what we want is the relative amplitude difference between frequiencies it doesnt matter if the changes we are making are adding or subtracting as long as we get the desired relative amplitudes in the end.

I would say the D90SE, D90LE or the D90 MQA is/are the D90 II ... hmmm

I can't get you actual release dates, as a lot of these small companies are bad at publicizing that! However we can look at review dates.

D90 - Dec 23, 2019 (no MQA support)
D90 MGA - May 15, 2020 (MQA support)

D90SE - Jun 15, 2021 (MQA support)
D90LE - released at the same time as the SE (no MQA support)

Id assume the D90SE/LE are considered the D90 II.

D90 III SABRE- Dec 18, 2023 (MQA support)
will their be a cheaper D90 III without MQA support? who knows!

either way you can see the releases are spaced out.
