One more question...

7. Bandwidth setting

Default is 4

What this setting change? How can I know which setting is best for me?
When using SPDIF input (Optical/Coax), increasing the Bandwidth will reduce the chance of stutter and drop-outs, at the cost of higher jitter on the analog outputs.

Has no effect on USB or Bluetooth input.

What I'd do is set the Bandwidth to the lowest setting, then increase it by one each time there's stutter when using SPDIF input, until the audio no longer stutters.

Thanks again.

I have 2x D50 III

1st will work with USB only - (but this settings don't apply to USB)

2nd will work most of the time with USB but sometimes with Coaxial and Optical inputs.

BT will never be used for both devices.

My D50- III arrived today. It's smaller than I expected, feels solid though.

Regarding power supplies - I guess any 5V USB will do?

I've been trying to get get my PEQ to work, but Topping Tune doesn't seem to recognize my device. I followed the instructions and had my device disconnected when I installed it. After I reconnected the D50 III and open Topping Tune, the bottom of the app says it is connected, but doesn't indicate it recognizes the D50 III. Tried connecting not through the HS02 and various other USB ports, but it doesn't help. If I try to click the + sign next to "Device Config", I get a pop up that says "Machine is not connected".

EDIT: It seems to work now randomly after reconnecting it multiple times. Is it just software/driver that caused this and nothing wrong with the device itself?

I believe any 5V/1A charger should work. Chargers with higher amp ratings should be fine.

I'm currently listening with the optical connection and music is cutting out for a split second periodically. Doesn't normally happen, only change to the chain is D50 III in place of a Chord Mojo.

Increasing the Bandwidth setting in the D50III menu should get rid of the stutter.

So far I have a strong feeling it's cutting out more on intros with quiet moments. It doesn't just cut out in those moments but much more.

Yep it's definitely a bug with the optical input. Start of Cherub Rock by Smashing pumpkins had several cut outs.

If you plan on using optical input do not buy D50III, it is cutting out 44khz 16bit songs on quiet passages. It simply does not work.
Wish I'd seen this before buying. How annoying. I guess this wasn't tested properly

Topping can you fix this with a firmware update or is the optical input goosed? If it's going to be permanent then you better tell people.

What a surprise. At least it's not like the E70 that can suddenly blast at full volume, or the L30 that blows out headphones. or the L30 II that suddenly explodes with special effects while in standby, or the PA5 that just dies.

Anyone wanting to recreate this problem listen to Soma by the Smashing Pumpkins using the optical input. It has a quiet start that builds and it cuts out a ridiculous amount.

Edit - god it happens so bloody often on some tracks Topping cannot have tested the optical input AT ALL. Disgusting.

Yup. A real shame. I’ve got multiple sources I’d like to send via optical, alas.

Has anyone contacted Topping about it so far? Someone must have?
Back in Feb or March I think they released a firmware update that claimed to address an issue with optical. It’s been discussed here in several threads. Honestly, I haven’t kept up with the latest… just ignoring that input until I see some convincing resolution.

I need to check what firmware version mine has. It's new though so presumably the latest...

I'm playing a 16 bit 48kHz album just now and there's no skipping. It does seem to be just 44.1kHz that causes the problem. A 24 bit 44.1 kHz album has some skipping too.
