Topping D30Pro Review (Balanced DAC)

At the 10th of March, which is the "first" dac/amp with balanced headphone jack?
With first I mean cheaper and in the blu zone of the chart :D

i have a few questions before changing my soncoz qxd1 (reason is that i'm afraid it will die for no reason, there is noticeable amount of reports), perhaps someone will be able to answer me (probably basing on previous topping models rather than this one)
1. in any of its modes (dac/pre), is it possible to change volume directly from pc, or is it limited to remote/hardware knob? and if so, does it sync with dacs volume? this one is important for me
2. how reliable is topping hardware? does it falil for no reason? are there any known reports of broken devices connected to it because of internal failure?
3. this unit comes with no fuse. should it be there, should user care for any other solution of this kind, or it's not really needed with this type of device?
4. it shows 0.99999kHz on output rather than full 1kHz in amirs review. what does it mean? (not the case in WolfX-700 work)
5. in multitone test the distances between lower frequencies do not drop as low as in some other devices – what does it mean? it's getting close to the „-115db” threshold

thanks!

Means the clock measures 0.001% slow here. Safe to say this means nothing basically.. :)

I need a trigger output, otherwise this DAC would be ideal. I ran across a thread where people have used the 5V from the USB input to control an external amp ... brilliant! Except that I would use the USB input to connect a Raspberry Pi.

I imagine that tapping into the USB cable to take power for the amp trigger is likely a bad idea?
Is there another source of power coming out of this DAC? The coax input perhaps?

Wouldn't that make the USB less clean?

I don't know ... but certainly seems like a possibility. I think the folks who are using the USB for power are using an alternate input. Using the USB for data and power indeed sounds iffy, and not something I would try with my very limited knowledge and understanding. But I would like to hear from someone who has deeper "electrical knowledge." And also if power can be taken instead from the coax plug or somewhere else.

I suppose all knowledge is electrical, at least to the extent it exists within the human mind!

DHL said mine is going to be here next Wed. Hopefully it doesn’t get detoured/lost. Looking forward to experiencing that cirrus/cloud sound.
are You by any chance in europe? wonder about the taxation with dhl

Just ordered one from Apos. The last Cirrus DAC's I've used were inside iBasso DX80 and Topping D30. Both excellent transparent devices. As good as AKM, ESS IMO.

I don't expect to "feel" anything different from my AKM or ESS DAC's even though Topping thinks I should??? This is so messed up, cringe worthy. They should have never put that in their advertising.

I am using E30 now feeding my (replaced) A90 (2nd one) and it's working well but feel the need to push more voltage into the amp through XLR to satisfy my demanding HE6se ...... holy cow do they perform nicely!
luckily their engineering is better than their marketing ;) (Language/culture I guess)

Around us (China, Hong Kong, etc.), there have been long-term discussions about the culture of "sound characteristics of DAC chips from different brands"-mostly nonsense. ..:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:
But I believe this will affect the marketing description to a certain extent... Then, as a manufacturer, they need to find a "point" to highlight the difference between products...

The ears hear what the eyes see.

In fact, all of this has a very long history... For example... Many people say that Cirrus Logic's DAC has a "crystal sound"-this should be due to Cirrus Logic's acquisition of "Crystal Semiconductor " 30 years ago.:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

Hey, if marketing didn't work the manufacturers wouldn't have survived long enough to sell us these great products.

DHL is asking for $29.00 for import duties, taxes, and whatnot, into Canada — much less than I expected.

Did you buy from ShenzenAudio? Apos (their US affiliate) charged me 15% GST up front (60USD), alas! And has still not shipped....
