Topping Centaurus R2R

Topping has an R2R DAC coming out soon. Wonder if the performance will be anything special compared to a good Delta-Sigma. Also kind of curios why they made the design inconsistent with the A70 Pro with the central LCD placement, will they have a matching headphone amp that will follow?

An 120dB SINAD R2R DAC will be a sacrilege,it was enough we had one doing 117dB or so
No RSR DAC can be proudly presented without H2/H3 reaching at least -70dBr

I'm excited to see what Topping can do here, compared to their D90 III Discrete. They rarely disappoint, and with a price point of $799 USD it certainly is intriguing.

Yes, I saw that earlier today. For that price, I may pick up one to compare to my D70 Pro Sabre.

They are using an Altera chip so its FPGA based. This bring some interesting possibilities such as major upgrade via chip reconfiguration, although they probably wont integrate that.

Nice! but I stopped with DACs….they make too many and there are too many…the race to digitalization is now a known deal, so much so that in the end I sold all the new DACs I had and I fell back on a device that was many years old and that surprisingly reads 24/96 and that's enough for me, given that the largest amount of streaming tracks gravitates in that orbit…

Wow, yeah, much more information on in there than anywhere else thus far. I tend to wait until they appear on Amazon and other retailers like Apos.

Still not sold on R2R in general. Might be just one of those products that buyers insisted on so they made it. I still dont know if there is any actual measurable advantage to R2R.
