Hello, I would like to ask if somebody had the chance to listen to both of them ?
Purifi 6525 from audiophonics and Topping b200 ?
Which one would sound better , my speakers are floor standers Canton Karat L900 and my dac is Topping D50 III balanced out .
Which one would be the better musical sound perspective choice ?
Thank you
I had the same thought but foolishly posted in the review thread, so my question got lost in the flurry of posts.
Well, 4 Ohm speakers generally don't go below 3.2 or so. I guess the amp will still do okay. I would add that even if it dips below 3.2 ohm, it should be fine most (99%?) of the time because music just wouldn't have contents that would cause impedance dips and have phase angles at the same time...

I think the purifi modules would make more power. They might potentially handle low impedance speakers a bit better too.
I'd be using whichever amp with an AVR so ideally I think I should try to get an amp with a gain near to 29dB (to match the AVR's internal amps, which will still be doing the surround channels).
So the high gain setting of the Topping B200 (22dB) is a bit low, but would probably be ok. I think the Audiophonics one would be something like 25.5dB.
I'm one of those who would prefer an internal PSU, but the power bricks wouldn't be a deal breaker. Otherwise, I like the small form-factor of the B200s.
The B200 has much lower distortion and I love the fact that (maybe because it is class A/B) the distortion remains consistently low even for higher frequency input. The graph showing higher distortion for 15kHz input has been enough to prevent me from going for one of the Hypex or Purifi class D modules until now.
Although it is very nice conceptually to have such a low distortion amp, it is so far beyond audibility that I doubt the difference between the B200 and the Purifi would matter at all.
I have some slight concerns about the long term reliability and service support with Topping. I'm not trying to slam Topping here, it would just be a major pain to have to post it back for service. With the Audiophonics I would be quite happy to do a module or PSU swap, if needed, at some later stage.
In an ideal world I'd be buying three Benchmark AHB2s, but I can't stretch to that at the moment.
