Stack A900+D900 or Fiio K17 ?
Streaming needed, what to add if the 900-stack to have an easy setup without to much connections and cords.

Mostly Tidal. Mac/iPhone-user. Some high res.
ZMF Verite Closed.
All kinds of music. Voices important. Bass is nice.

Definitely not golden ears but want really good equipment for the "feeling of it"..
Price difference no object. Not interested in other options, these is the final two options in a showdown.

Waiting for the next gen of Fiio M17 but takes to long so therefore desktop..

WiiM Mini will do the trick.

With Optical out to the D900, the Mini is bit-exact.
In other words: flawless signal transmission of streamed audio.

In addition to the WiiM Mini:
D90 III Discrete + A90 Discrete would also perfectly work as just one example (and not the cheapest!) of a beautiful fully transparent DAC / Preamp Kombination.
(EUR 999,- + EUR 599,-) instead of (EUR 1199,- + EUR 1790,-)
.... so roughly half the price!

It is interesting that I own the three of them. Simple answer is, K17 if you want to spend less. With K17 alone you get a phenomenal sound warm sound the AKM chips. The rest are amazibg extras like streaming from Roon and also the digital output if you want spdif output.

What does the D900 and A900 add. ( TOP 3).
1. More headphones power. The 4 watts of K17 are good but I noticed some headphones like hifiman he1000 and the demanding he6 banafit a lot from the A900 power.
2. Much more transparent sound. The difference is very audible. This does not mean the k17 is not detailed but the A900/D900 is of different level.
3. More detailes and more analytical. I connect my Focal Utopia and love hearing every signal in the music with the Topping.

So, one unit K17. You will love it all the way. More money, get the A900 first and pair it with K17. You get a serious upgrade. You want more you get the D900 on top. Will let the K17 go becauseI own the a900/D900? Tricky question. I do not guess so. That was my first message in the forum
