Do we have news about the problem from Topping? Thanks
None from topping but I've asked Audiophonics about it.
They didnt answered about the possible issues being fixed from Topping, but they informed me that they were waiting the new batch before sending me a replacement. They used the word "new version" ; might be refering to an update on that problem, but frankly, I have no more information than what is implied there.

They may be referring to firmware version 1. 07 that was released a few days ago. I've already installed it on my a70 pro. So far, so good.

2 mm scuff / mark on my A70 Pro out of the box. I have OCD so this is pretty annoying actually. What do you guys think? Is this normal for metalwork products?

Just updated to 1.07 for what it's worth, can anyone confirm if this fixed their faulty units?

It is definitely a scuff that I haven't seen on any of my gear.

That would be interesting to know. Btw when upgrading FW make sure to use a Type C (for A70Pro) to a Type A cable for the computer otherwise the device won't be recognized.

Nobody really knows since Topping decided to give us a silent middle finger

It was surprisingly straight foreword to be honest. Unplug power cable, borrowed my keyboard cable, transfer file and in less than 60 seconds it was back up and running.

It is easy but as previously mentioned here in this thread a Type C to Type C cable wasn't working for me either so I switched to a Type C to regular Type A cable and it instantly worked. The updating process is ridiculously easy to complete :)

Yeah so i bought originally topping a90d which had -5 error. Sent it to audiophonics and they cdnt figure out whats wrong so they sent it back to China and new one is currently on delivery. Meanwhile I bought a70 and after 2 days of use it wont start. This shit is driving me nuts. Now iv spent 1k on units that either wont work or are on delivery. Can I even trust these anymore when I get new ones... or just sell them.

If I've had this kind of experience I would probably not buy anything from Topping for at least 3-4 years

did you get the HP DC error on your A70 pro? what are you driving with it? I've had D10 + JDS Atom stack and D50S/A50S/P50 stacks and they've never had an issue. My A70/D70 pro stack is fine now but I'm barely stressing it with my 109 pros ofc, my dt1990 pro was fine too and they take a lot more power but nothing crazy afaik

In principle, a DC error at the headphone output is not related to the power delivered by the amplifier, just indicates the presence of a direct current value which ideally should be zero. Excess power would result in an overcurrent or overtemperature error.

I was wondering if the error was an oversensitive/malfunctioning protection issue rather than a physically defective unit

Without more information, it could be both of them. Only the manufacturer can find out

This is why I'm wondering what happens if someone with a faulty unit tries to update their firmware, does the error go away or is it actually borked?

I wouldn't gamble and would repair it or return it. The presence of DC current in the headphone output can destroy the headphones. I would only update the firmware if the manufacturer explicitly tells me to do so.

No error codes. Just simply nth happens. No screen light nothing. On a90d Audiophonics updated firmware but it didnt work. Topping said that it needs to tweak some sensitivity shit. I use Ifi neo idsd as a DAC. Sry my language but im still kinda pissed bout this.

Unrelated, but just had to put my galvanic isolator (HS02) on my D70 Pro as my speakers started purring when watching an F1 stream. It fixed it, kinda weird that there's no isolation on such an expensive DAC though.
