Topping’s new amplifier - Mini300

With all the rave of TPA3255 PFFB, Topping just reminds people they are still there with a competitive MSRP. Looking forward to PA7 Plus reborn as Mini500.

Yeah so all the specs are identical to PA5 II Plus, except for a delta of .0001% worse THD+N performance. I got the PA5 II Plus some months ago... now the same performance can be acquired for only $139?! Urrghh...niceee!

Lots of amp manufacturers promise lofty specs... my personal rule for audio products is don't spend a dime until it's been independently tested.

Topping's reputation is that it always mostly lives up to its specs in independent tests.

Input impedance mentioned somewhere?
I did a search and didn't return results.

Hi

Read a few of the exchanges on this thread: We have become blasé. That level of performance at $150, should elicit more than ennui.
A powerful (>100 Watts per channel) , amplifier, in a smallish box, with a level of measured (or measurable if you wan to remain a bit of skeptic, and not believe in Topping's own measurements) performance that will make many HEA amplifers of great renown and costing upward of 100 times its (as in $15,000), blush or at the very least run for cover...
Also capable of driving many speakers out there with some real power >130 Watts according to the (to be trusted) Topping's measurements.
After all it is an integrated with just a pair of input. No biggies for most here, perhaps you would use a Preamp .. or not

In other words: Another great product from Topping... YAWN! NO!!

Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow!!! Let's celebrate that level of performance at that level of price. And be grateful.

Peace

I think folks may also be skeptical because with the original PA5 amp (which has a similar design) had widespread reliability issues which damaged the brand IMO.

The problem was solely with the potting compound-filled modules, which are no longer used in the PA5 II and other devices.
These devices were replaced by Topping, or they could be repaired using the module from @gamerpaddy.
So, a problem that has long been solved.

If they retain the input impedance of PA5II, it is 2k for unbalanced (not good for plenty of legacy hifi) or 10k for unbalanced (Archimago's measurements).

For me, it was less the problem itself (all companies can have problems like that) it was their failure to properly support the customers who had broken amps that damaged the brand.

@amirm Will you review this soon? I would like the "veil lifted" with regards to it against the Plus.

I am hoping someone does a quality technical comparison between the 3E Audio A5 and Topping Mini 300.

Makes perfect sense, and it looks more modern with better WAF
I'd buy one if I already didn't have TP RA3
There's really one thing missing from the new one, and that's a remote. It's powerful enough for most speakers and will be underutilized on the desktop
Obviously it's possible to also control the volume through the DAC instead..

Heck, you could buy this without the significant other even noticing. It’s basically stealth technology.
On the remote, yeah I think it’s pretty much use the DAC or streamer for volume control. Kind makes you wonder why they bothered putting volume on it in the first place. Mono block versions would be cool.

I sent an email to Topping and got this answer today:
Balanced (XLR): 5 kohm
Unbalanced (RCA): 1 kohm
Dammm... definitely a downgrade from PA5II (not that it was great).
Early this year I asked the same question for the PA5 II.
The answer was the same as for the Mini 300, balanced 5 kohm and unbalanced 1 kohm.
That's odd: Archimago measured 10k (balanced) and 2k (unbalanced) for the PA5II.

Hmm, seems to have vanished from shenzhenaudio?

Edit: Works now

But it's on sale here:
