Top list as useful orientation?

Hello again,

to all of you with experience in different equipment. Can I use a top list like the Stereoplay/Connect TopList as an reference?

I mean not as the absoute choice maker. Only for additional information to make a decision. Anyone with experience that the rating goes in the right direction?

Do you know how they arrived at those scores?

The only two speakers on their list, that have also been measured at ASR, are KEF LS50 and Elac Adante AS-61, which have the predicted preference ratings of 4.48 and 3.97, respectively. connect awarded LS50 a score of 49 and Adante AS-61 a score of 58, meaning they gave the worse speaker a higher rating. This very small sample size comparison suggests that connect's scores are not a reliable indicator of sound quality.
