We don't know how far the Coronavirus impact will get by the end of this year.

About Coronavirus "Le Parisien" newspaper today

800 patients hospitalized in Paris, Lyon, Strasbourg, Lille and Nantes will be recruited from this Monday, on a voluntary basis.

Four treatments and five molecules in total will be tested, including the famous chloroquine. This product, used until then in particular against malaria was however not planned at the start. Professor Didier Raoult, who heads the Mediterranean Hospital Infection University Institute (IHU) in Marseille, conducted his own experiment on 24 patients hospitalized in La Timone Hospital, one of the city's hospitals. They took hydroxychloroquine in combination with azithromicyne and only 25% of them were still carriers of the virus after six days. Results qualified as "spectacular" by Pr Raoult.

Some of the colleagues of the Marseilles doctor criticize these tests and their method, believing that the conditions of the tests do not allow to draw definitive conclusions and that this molecule can present dangerous side effects.

Also cautious at first, the health authorities finally added this treatment to those tested at European level. Pr Raoult's results were even deemed "interesting" by the Director General of Health, Jérôme Salomon, Sunday evening.

"Chloroquine is one of the well-known drugs that can cause abnormal heart rhythms as side effects, but I called Italian colleagues yesterday [Sunday] who told me that they noticed little of it", indicates for his part to the Parisian Professor Olivier Bouchaud, head of the infectious diseases department of the Avicenne hospital (Bobigny).
When will we get the results?

Inserm promises that "the analysis of the efficacy and safety of the treatment will be evaluated 15 days (after the start of taking the products)". Saturday, the Minister of Health Olivier Véran also said to expect the first results "in a period [estimated] less than fifteen days".

Last Thursday, virologist Bruno Lima, co-coordinator of the study in France, envisaged a period of six to eight weeks to reach final conclusions.
Why are some doctors already prescribing chloroquine for Covid-19?

Chloroquine is not a new drug. I've lived in Africa for 19 years - Chad, Togo and Ivory Coast - and I took chloroquine tablets for months (not for years) to protect myself from paludism/malaria who are still endemic in Africa. I never had side effects like my friends maybe because 100mg is safe.
Chloroquine in France and Africa is sold under the name Nivaquine.
Nivaquine was sold over the counter during the last 50 years... since 15 january 2020 it is sold behind the counter. Why ??
It costs nothing : Nivaquine 100mg (milligrams), 100 tablets: 5.57€ (I took one per day preventivly)
When you get the malaria you must take at least 6 tablets each day...

Most of people dying from coronavirus are men...

Actually in France they are using in Paris, Hospital Bichat and in Marseille, Hospital La Timone where Professor Didier Raoult is working a treatment with azythromicyne antibiotic + hydroxychloroquine and it works very well with no or few side effects.
The treatment lowers the viral load in 6 days.

Actually this mask is tested in some hospitals. It's a mask used for snorkeling... It is sold by Decathlon.
In addition to this use, other studies are underway to make this mask an effective means of protection against the coronavirus for caregivers. Guillaume Barucq, general practitioner and deputy mayor of Biarritz (SW France), announced that a local company "is working to transform the Decathlon EasyBreath snorkeling mask into a caregiver's protective mask using an anti-viral and anti-bacterial filter". He added that the device was being validated.

Yesterday night the number of people dead in France was 6507.
Hopefully hospitals are free for cancer, alzheimer, chirurgy of the eyes, and covid 19 however I broke my nose 12 years ago in a bike fall and i've not been charged for the surgery.
