Tom Danley Signature Series HRE1 4,400-watt 4-way Powered Loudspeaker

I suppose if you own the entire landscape you could put them somewhere on top of the hill or far in the field where they could be heard much better than they could be seen. Or have them shipped and build a house around them, or even put them closer to your neighbor. Possibilities are endless :)

But seriously, I wouldn't mind the looks if they can put on quite a show as I can imagine. Sadly, little to no WAF as these are too expensive for me or my wife...

I heard these at a show last year. It was in a large hotel room, I didn't impressed by the sound at all. Of course they can sound "big" and loud that small speakers can't follow but these was all the positives I heard. There was lack of resolution of a typical high frequency compression driver, a not too spectacular midrange and a deep but sluggish bass.
No.

View attachment 301680View attachment 301681The 8381 all of sudden looks very good in comparison lol
For home use, even if money no object, I will likely go with Genelec 8351+W371A for full range...or even with some hidden subs. These really is too industrial looking and the diminishing return kicks in real hard (not only in terms of money, but the WAF also). Or even if time allow, get KEF blade meta/reference 1 meta and pair with some sub and mini DSP.

They look pretty cool and actually similar to Genelec 8381

Huhh, is this called a dark room?
Camera struggling with the high contrast of the light through the doors. I have a slightly better picture of them in Keith's room, if he is ok with me posting it.

C'mon, it was a joke. But still me wouldn't like them to block my sight outside, adding even that chair. I've git DIY speakers of a similar form factor, but they're matt white for a reason, and sport protection for the membranes, and sport a full cover of all openings white cloth.

Technology, yeah, a four way is the way to go even with such huge specimen. But the max SPL will never be exploited, so what is the point with (not the four way design, but) such massive furniture @home?

No.

Have you heard the “Paraline” one? I’m more curious about that given the novelty.

It’s also interesting to me that it’s the cheaper one given that the parts cost has to be higher - those BMS coaxes aren’t cheap!

So you know what or how I heard? Funny.
No but I know what I heard and measured and when I compared them in the same room to known references.
Certainly no lack of resolution , bass does have to be measured and filters implemented because the HREs have lots of it.

No I haven’t but I hope to.

Nope.

Nopity nope, nope, nope!

Admittedly I'd like to hear them - they probably sound great. But man is it hard to get past those aesthetics. I've rarely seen such a turn-off. (IMO of course).

For the price of a single pair they could have hired an industrial designer to upgrade the look of this thing 1000%. Kind of a shame because the specs are wild. The frequency and phase look nice, but 132dB? This is approaching the "jet engine / gunfire" parts of the typical SPL charts...

96db at 200 feet no problem then...
