I'm thinking of downloading Harman's How to Listen software, but I have a minor question.

I assume if I download the app to a laptop I will then be able to connect to the AUX jack on the front of my AVR. Is that correct? Has anyone done that already?

Yes if you want to "learn how to listen" on your speakers.
Or connect some headphones to laptop directly (headphone out or via some dac/amp combo)

You can also try the "Tasks" in the companion web site of Jason Corey's (professor at University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance) book "Audio Production and Critical Listening - Technical Ear Training".

I downloaded the program and connected the laptop to my Sony AVR. The video is showing fine, but the sound is still coming from the laptop speakers.

Anyone here with technical knowledge that can help?

Lenovo Legion Pro 5 w/ i9 and Win 11 Home

Ultimately the goal is to refine my speaker listening skill so I'd love to do the tests through speakers, but I have ordered an AKG K371 headset to use for now.

@NTK Thank you for that link, but initially anyways it looks a bit over my head technically as it doesn't come with "See Spot Run" instructions :)

Maybe change output in settings>system>sound? You want make sure your laptop speakers aren't checked.

My apologies for being a bit of a simpleton, but can someone expain what I'm supposed to click on besides EQ and FLAT.

Do you click on each number and then compare EQ and FLAT? Meaning in the example below there would be 4 options for bands, and each band would have 2 listening options EQ or FLAT but only one number/band (1,2,-1,-2) has EQ. Is that correct? If not can someone describe how you're supposed to take the test?

Thanks.
