What year was this offered ?

I recall the backs of the boxes of select brands of (sugar-sweetened) cereal came embossed and ready for play (after cutting them out)

Apparently popular in the K-Pop market. I've seen a few western artists touting them too, but I don't really get the point myself. Seems to be just another form of DRM ...

Even longer ago there was the flexidisc.

One of my earliest and most vivid musical memories, at the tender age of about seven, is listening to the NME flexidisc promo for Alice Cooper's Billion Dollar Babies. I vividly remember it had 'Slick Black Limousine' on one side (which oddly wasn't on the album) and a potpourri of snippets from the album on the other side. I remember being most enthused by the barfing noises on Unfinished Sweet ...

Packaging looks confusingly similar to thousands of CDs, now that cardboard sleeves resembling mini-LPs are common.
