You are correct in that: To find the 1 or 2 that are even somewhat worthy would probably take all of his time.

Actually that might be cool to see how my dad's old Magnavox with its sub/subwoofer amp would do. Just for fun. Bet it won't fit on the Klippel.

Needless to say, it's a no go for us.
Although I, too, think that it is ludacris. (at least for me, even if I was single).
With do respect to our internet hero, Amir, I like the Soundstage format a little more. It might stop some posts from the uneducated with its detail, background information and spec verification,IMO. Please don't shoot the messenger.

I would also prefer more speakers tested, but as said, Amir does what he wants in his spare time, and this website is his spare time. We can only express our wishes, but not demand anything from him. And Erin does a lot of good tests of speakers, so it's not that Amir is the only source for that.
I'm mainly thankfull that he took the time and spend the money to set up a site like this. This is already a big effort, and his testing rigs are not cheap at all (and neighter is hosting and maintaining a site and forum like this).

Do you know Audio Express where Vance Dickason test a lot of drivers? He may not have a database, but you can find a lot of extensive test results.
And drivers are also made for a lot of different purposes, with different specs and needs, so a database ranking like you suggest is not that usefull. You got a few databases based on spec sheets arround also btw.

DAC’s are not super interesting as separate item , they are a commodity item that should reside inside more interesting products like streaming preamps with DSP and similar.
Given limited time amp tests are good as is . More data is good but would not trade this time against speaker tests .
Speakers are most interesting to me .
And thanks @amirm for all the tests such as they are , some are just ungrateful if you give them something free they will ask if it comes in red instead of blue

I agree with you on the speakers (but not little 2 way inexpensive ones) but larger bookshelf or floor standers that have more cost because of the factory having and using things like the Klippel (which costs money to acquire & more & more money to use properly).
Active speakers are my fav category they encompass similar priorities.

I think amps are pretty much under control, but there seems to be a lot of interesting speakers to test from companies like Ascilab, ME Geithan, Buchardt Audio, Kii, and Mesanovic.
Ahm...: I have six 2 channel amps that have 95 SINAD & can produce 500 watts a channel at 4 OHMs (and much more at a very stable 2 Ohms, if needed).R11 + amps + DAC
Also, if I needed a DAC, my oPPo 205 UDP has a very good one (I don't stream, as that is not possible where I live), so everything is physical media or FM.
Again, if it costs more than a pair of KEF R11 Meta's and doesn't do as good or better than a pair of KEF R11 Meta's to implement, why would I spend the money to implement it?

If you already own amplification DAC's and crossovers then it does not make economical sense .
I've actually considered the R7 but bought the LS60 due to not owning any amp or preamp anymore , since i used to have meridian gear .
Actives can do some stuff not possible with passives ( but that's another tread ) and should be better speaker . But active speakers are not unproblematic in consumer versions .
I've seriously considered going back to passives after 15 years of owning only active speakers.
Even if actives imho are better, I think the choice of R11 is great, with the room size you probably have i don't think LS60 are the right choice . I don't think KEF has any active speaker for large rooms and or high output .
My room size here is not large but I have another place that I will eventually move to that has a larger than average room.
I looked into the LS60 setup & it would likely work here but not in my future. Also, since I have the other components for great passive, it makes (as you mentioned) ZERO financial sense (also, doing no streaming...).
This is fairly easy. If everyone with extra cash laying around (a lot of you), sends Amir 1 to 5K of that cash, Amir will do a LOT more testing. He can put more effort in when making $100,000 a year. He can hire a couple of part time young bucks to lift and tote heavy floorstanders when setting them up with the Klippel. So everyone needs to send in the money!
