Time Ear BTE-9 portable bluetooth DAC - Query regarding volume display

I got a piece recently and overall have been satisfied with it. If you look at the screen where no. "9" is displayed, that's supposed to read the volume control from the source and "40" is the internal controllable volume in the DAC. The 9 never changes if I increase/decrease the volume from my cell phone (source). It's supposed to go up to 15. Anyone encountered this and if any possible solutions? I use a OnePlus 7T phone.

How has your device been? Were you able to get the app going and try the equaliser or updating the firmware?

Device is working fine. For the volume thing: 1. i had to go to earphone under sound settings 2. Earphone mode 3. Bluetooth absolute volume - ON. 4. Switch on timeear, increase the volume on phone. Then the dac reads the setting 5. Then switch off the dac 6. Either keep the bluetooth absolute option on or off on the phone. The dac remembers it.
App. No. Was a nightmare to download the apk from the website and play store did not allow the installation.
Didn't search for the firmware as the volume thing got sorted out. 15 is the max setting. It needs to be at 12 at least to get good clarity on the earphones. Then the device volume can be used accordingly.
