Perhaps as an addendum, Roon Ready is of no use to you if you use the DAP on the go.
Roon Ready is only about integrating the DAP into a Roon server at home. In reality, you'll rarely do that. The only sensible exception for me would be using the DAP as a mobile receiver for the Roon server, i.e., as a Roon endpoint.
A little tip for DAPs: don't spend too much money. Above €200-300, you don't get any sound improvement, at most reputation, haptics, and sometimes even more output power. I've listened to quite a few DAPs in my life, ranging from devices under €100 to devices like Kann and even ones over €6,000.
The Pioneer XDP-30R / Onkyo DP-S1, which are unfortunately no longer manufactured, were already very well-adapted in terms of sound; only the SE performance could have been a bit higher.
A while ago, I bought my personal dream DAP, a Fiio M15 with the old AK4499EQ (Dual, of course), used for around €600 with some accessories, saving 60% off the new price. It doesn't sound particularly better than other or cheaper devices, but in terms of display, feel, and output power, it's like comparing a VW Golf to a Maybach.
Especially with DAPs, it makes sense to look around the used market.
