Tidal MQA and 360 Reality formats are no more as of July 24, 2024

The last time I used "Dolby Atmos" on Tidal, it was lossy (IE: Dolby Digital Plus). In terms of the other "surround" format, 360 Reality, I think its being cut because its actually lossless and takes up more space. Or maybe the fact only Sony products used 360 Reality "Shrug Emoji I can't paste in 2024".

This is how I see Tidal cleaning up the MQA files:

From Tidal:
Hi -
On July 24, 2024, we’re replacing the music in TIDAL’s MQA catalog with FLAC versions. In addition to this change, we're removing all podcasts and music available in 360 Reality Audio.

I couldn't give a rat's ass about MQA as it always seemed gimmicky to me. However, I do enjoy the 360 Reality tracks. Not a deal breaker though.

Good riddance! I have Tidal because it's the only high res streaming service with an app for my Window's PC, NVidia Shield, and Android phone. It was a PIA to see the occasional album I wanted to listen to show up in MQA. It's inferior sonics (I don't unfold though) were very much apparent. The mega data indicates a bit rate of 300-360 kbps, which is markedly inferior to FLAC's 700-800 kbps. So good riddance!

Received it myself as well, so it's really happening.

Also, Techradar and DigitalTrends have some good articles about this change, so it looks like the offline downloaded audio files will be removed too.

So, we are going to see a lot of MQA-pable DACs just vanishing off from the market.
It could be a good thing, even for achieving a better scale economy of the manufacturers.

Didn't even get to experience MQA, i might not happen to like it, since i don't have any dac to use for playing MQA

Well i havn't personally ecperienced sa cd's either

Just give me lossless music withouit buffering or playing the same songs twice

Qobuz I mean question, doesn't someone already do that? ;)
I have both Qobuz & Tidal…..when I synced the hi res albums from Qobuz to Tidal….quite a few on Tidal where still just CD quality.

If Tidal are supposed to have switched off MQA on the 24th June, why am I still seeing MQA tracks?
