I don’t think the issue here has much to do with sound quality, or even technology. MQA as a business has been shown to be deceptive in their claims. This is what upsets people. If they had been honest and transparent from the start, this controversy most likely would not exist. If someone enjoys MQA, that’s great, but I’d expect these discussions to continue on until either MQA comes clean or disappears.

There also appears to be a double standard happening. This site calls out hardware snake oil such as the recently reviewed Dragonfly Cobalt, yet takes a neutral stance on software snake oil such as MQA. I’m curious as to why the hard line on hardware and what appears to be a different standard for software?

Thanks..
Absolutely not starting this argument again. If we start rehashing the previous thread, this will get closed as well. Stay on topic please.

NP. You're right. I'm done anyway. Nothing left to discuss with it.

A few Rammstein tracks are still on Tidal...as is their Artist page...
https://tidal.com/browse/artist/24972

https://tidal.com/browse/track/94442127
https://tidal.com/browse/track/103540053
https://tidal.com/browse/track/94442129

And, on that Artist page if you click on their Credits, Rammstein have a lot of credited content on Tidal:
https://tidal.com/browse/credits/24972
There is quite a bit more Rammstein on AMHD:

I share my YouTube Music (YT Premium for YT without ads) with a friend for his Tidal and unfortunately, as far as I can see Rammstein only has 3 tracks on Tidal and all of their music on YouTube Music is just the music videos from YouTube, good, but not CD quality or even high MP3...

An artist/label can get their album encoded for $17.99 via an automated process:

https://distrokid.zendesk.com/hc/en...an-Send-My-Music-in-TIDAL-Master-Quality-MQA-

What a bargain! Pay us $17.99 and we’ll screw up your perfectly good recording before releasing it to the public. And I thought audiophile snake oil was only peddled to listeners.

The last paragraph is interesting.

“ At this time, the TIDAL Master/MQA Optional Album Extra cannot be added to releases that have been previously uploaded. If you would like to add this extra to your prior uploads, you will need to delete your release from streaming services, re-upload with the exact same metadata, and select the TIDAL Master/MQA extra on the upload form.”

If I read it correctly, it means that an artist cannot upload both a FLAC version and an MQA version of the same album, which answers the question posed by this thread.

Simple matter, really. Those that are followers of MQA can subscribe to Tidal. Those that oppose MQA can avoid Tidal like the plague.
However, we should not turn a blind eye to all the claims that MQA makes. Everything else on this site is carefully scrutinized and analyzed. Why should it be different with MQA.
Although measurements of equipment are important, the music source is THE most critical part of the chain. Why bother testing equipment to the Nth degree if you are going to source damaged music.

I opened this thread to highlight and discuss Tidal’s new lossless tier. It has served its purpose.
