TI changes the specs and design of NE5532 and OPA2134 and Dave EEVblog gets MAD

Bascally what the title says, Texas Instruments changed the input stage, specs and design of their "jellybean" audio opamps last year and Dave becomes mad at them.
Posted in the fun topics because, well, his reaction is comic, but might also be of interest as he goes through the changes, comparing current and old datasheets.

Glad that I purchased my last batch of TI NE5532s circa 2022.

Datasheets for TP3255 and LM3886 appear unchanged (whew!)

I think Dave (and any other engineer) who uses the 5532 / 2134 extensively have a right to be mad.

It's quite a reduction in specs, not least of all the reduction in maximum supply voltage from +/-22v down to +/-18v.

There are many, many mixers that are using close to that upper maximum voltage.

I wonder if this is a cynical attempt to kill off the 5532/2134? It's important to note there are still a couple of other manufacturers that are still doing the original 5532 though.

TI is probably using Huaxuanyang Tronics Co. as their source for "their" 5532. A nice corner cutting maneuver they hope nobody will notice.

TI is moving production from older to modern fabs and were paying the price.
