Hey @Andysu
, I've been following you here for a long time, and we've already interacted here. I often watch your live YouTube videos, even though I struggle to understand spoken English since I'm French; I understand it better in writing. Anyway, I'm really surprised by your Trinnov purchase because I remember a recent video where you said Trinnov was crap. What happened to make you buy one? Also, you've already explained here that you're a fan of Scatmos, so why go back to Atmos with Trinnov?

If you could reply to me here, that would be perfect, thanks to you

oh yes that is right , some can understand better when hearing verbal english , and others can only understand when written/typed
usually if i speak i maybe using " slang words " and those can be hard to understand ?

yes i said that many times , i'm cynical about all audio nowadays , even the stormaudio , denon , dolby professional , ( i'm also cynical about myself lol ) i am not perfect in a imperfect social society

well the trinnov remote is actually made of metal ? unlike the stormaudio remote made of plastic

the trinnov fans are quieter than of the stormaudio , least so far i noticed a some mild heat build up with trinnov mounted in the rack for a few hours seemed/appeared to be operating fine

stormaudio menu is a lot easier to navigate around the menu , where's the trinnov menu is like a labyrinth maze that would take me maybe a week or two

trinnov weight 14.5kg
stromaudio 11kg

lifting that trinnov into the rack ( with my health condition ) i have found to be not easy feels more like an , AVR than a AVP , i guess the chassis of each stromaudio and trinnov is constructed of different metals to generally make a robust structure ?

i didn't not notice any audio drop outs with the trinnov ( as of yet that is ? ) or any delays ? i had disc in the player , star wars 1977 i paused and replayed and audio started up immediately ? ( at least for the present that is what i noticed ? )

trinnov altitude 32 , setting up ,

1) computer router Ethernet lead connected connected to trinnov Ethernet input
2) secondly using the menu on trinnov front panel looking for " network ) and scrolling though menu until i find " ip address " and type the ip address into the web page browser takes the processor to the websites remote software where then can operator the rest of the processor functions

1) connecting DB25 XLR connectors to the trinnov four DB25 outputs ,

later going into the processors audio output mode settings and assigning speaker/channel outputs
the processors menu is a labyrinth maze that is a bit more complicated than of the stormaudio isp32 mk3 processor
weight is heavier , cooling fans seem to cooperate rather quietly

i have been cynical of trinnov calling it crap and even calling stormaudio crap , , other people also have called trinnov expensive not worth it
still i prefer my Dolby Stereo CP200 lol , but i shall see how the rest of the processor handles compared to stormaudio ?

it may take i think a few more days to get the processor fully set-up with my systems complex audio B-chain ?

the processor has previous owners settings , Eq gain levels and its presently reducing audio levels by small -dB amount , once i have put those settings to default as the Eq settings wouldn't be applicable to my system amplifiers speakers

original owner has been helpful it is a maze of a menu system

HDMI inputs 1.4 from 1 to 3 and from 4 to 7 2.0 only not the newer HDMI board 2.1 , i think the 2.0 be fine since the stormaudio has HDMI 2.0

i not noticed audio drop outs as of yet ? or audio delays as of yet ? i may discover those as i test it out when fully set-up ?

i intend to use nearly mostly all the inputs HDMI and audio inputs/rca for Sony SDDS so CP200 can play proper Dolby Stereo , except for AES the meantime ?
i assume the assignment audio outputs can be set up to create similar duplicated channels like stormaudio isp32 mk 3 ? otherwise i have to use another complicated way of getting around that as , Dolby Stereo is important to recreate the Dolby Stereo experience

the coaxial electrical rca inputs for AC-3 i use for pioneer laserdisc players , and few of the optical inputs also for pioneer laserdisc players PCM for dts , since laserdisc is the only format that uses theatrical mix soundtracks that haven't been tampered with , unlike some dvd , some and mostly all blu and uhd has soundtrack been tampered with by sound-mixers which is totally unnecessary

one function that seems to be disconnected within the settings is the main volume level , volume only functions on the remote control ? i may find the settings within the menu maze ? to switch it back On ?

i have x4 DB25 XLR cables to connect and then fit the unit carefully into the rack and secure the racks mounting screws securely and start connecting to the other B-chain additional processors DCX to the amplifiers and then conduct processor pink noise tests that the processor is connected in same way as with the stormaudio isp32 mk3 may take me a few days

all the cheap DB25 xlr male cables have channel numbers printed onto the silver plug so can make connecting easier

Yes, it's marketing. But the Trinnov remains useful for active filtering and bass management. You're not going to use waveforming either?
i shall see , too early yet , i wont have it up and running maybe for another day or two i shall see

cables attached to DB25 temp pushed into rack , actual all connections to cables may take a day or two as my THX sound system is extremely complex and i need to double check that all pink noise and sine wave tests match the previous system when connected to stormaudio

just a little sample of what doing presently
so far configuring the speaker layout and then when ready connecting the DB25 xlr to the xlr female cables ( once connected to the stormaudio ) and testing with pink noise the sound is in the correct speaker/channel location
oh processor does do three speaker outputs for sidewalls
Ls
Ls1
Ls2
Rs
Rs1
Rs2
or three surrounds per each sidewall
i see if i can configure the processor for Dolby Stereo surrounds arrays

i think i'll try this , get rest of the cables connected check/test with pink noise to verify speaker/channel continuity

I can't wait to read your review of the listening experience, good or bad.

FYI, I also tested the Trinnov, but only with Optimizer.
no review , just my thoughts opinion where i am still cynical about it , i prefer my cats more

oh i noticed something with the optimizer , with repeated playing scene from , star wars 1977 where it made some sound loud and some frequency reduced and when switched off i noticed level reduced by so much -dB and some frequency was a bit clearer , i have to get it all fully up and running to run some , suspicious tests to see what its actually doing ?

cleared/deleted the previous owners settings started new
created a new speaker channel layout

i think its saved ? i created a preset name simply ( Dolby Atmos ) that is saved in a preset file on the processor

i'll connect two of the overheads from DB25 to the female cables that was previously connected to stormaudio and check with pink noise to verify pink noise is outputting
i'll check one of the overheads with , " gravity " 2013 to confirm the sound is the correct position once satisfied i'll connect up all the remaining channels
and run pink noise tests and sine wave aligment checks on the Dolby DSU4 that levels on input LED's that signals are okay aligned and going up/down with trinnov main volume

still not figured why the main volume isn't working ? only the remote control and online remote software is , strange ?

this hasn't been easy to set up , its i think day 4 now , it took 1 day to get the stormaudio up and running and few more days with a dealer to learn how to create ( theatre modes )

i will have to figure out how to create other like ( theatre modes ) for Dolby Stereo multi surround arrays like i did on the stormaudio processor and an all channel duplicated for testing the pink noise on all the channels in the room including the below surrounds , it was easy to create that on the stormaudio
plus a mono mode and multi five screen mono mode to enhance mono soundtracks

i not sure if i could create a CIC/UCI experimental overhead surround ? thou that is also a easy wiring setting i created using a switcher box , i like see if i can create it by duplicating many surround channels and then assign them to overhead surround outputs

i shall get some sleep now , what an exhausting processor i really don't know

one thing apart from why the main volume not working ? trinnov remote control doesn't have a power On/Off buttons ( where stormaudio remote does ) not even on the trinnov remore software on pc , no On/Off button , have to switch processor On/Off on the processor front panel

all the HDMI been set from 1.4 to 2.0

later i'll start with all the cable connections and check careful each step of the way i'm connecting linking the ( DB25 xlr male to xlr female to rest of B-chain additional matrix processors , DCX 2496 and amplifiers/speakers ) and verify with pink noise
