Your Lintons have a wider soundstage at the cost of less precise imaging, per their wider horizontal radiation pattern. So would anyone mind telling me what advantage my Lintons have over these? No Amp required, cost only 25% of a Linton….
I'm not saying it's big deal, just that it is interesting, and that 1.3k comes from or made by the woofer but there is a dip on axis, yet at the same time that 1.3k can be heard above+below+behind the speaker with high SPL, according to the Vertical Polar graph.i think it's fine for 2-way speaker, remember it is also on vertical axis and it's narrow, horizontal is great, it's more important, if this is big deal, coaxial is the way to go then
It's the port. See my post above.I'm not saying it's big deal, just that it is interesting, and that 1.3k comes from or made by the woofer but there is a dip on axis, yet at the same time that 1.3k can be heard above+below+behind the speaker with high SPL, according to the Vertical Polar graph.
But i'm not unreasonable, it is noticeable cheaper (139€) than the JBL 306p MKII (183€) and than the KALI LP-6 2nd Wave (199€). It looks like a really nice budget speaker / studio monitor.
aghh i see now, 1.3k is more like energy than lack of it, and if it's all around, maybe the box itself is resonating or the port, don't know, still very short freq..I'm not saying it's big deal, just that it is interesting, and that 1.3k comes from or made by the woofer but there is a dip on axis, yet at the same time that 1.3k can be heard above+below+behind the speaker with high SPL, according to the Vertical Polar graph.

It's about 4.5W if not playing anything and 0.5W in standby mode.any idea about it's idle/quiescent power consumption?
It is most likely just sold out at the moment.Discontinued already. I managed to grab the final pair a week ago.
Oh boy, oh boy...these objectively measure amazing in my room and subjectively consume hours of listening to music, too difficult to turn the music off.

Interesting. I would be surprised if they were to discontinue this speaker following its rise in popularity. If anything, they should be raising the price. The site message is:
"The product Swissonic A306 is regretfully no longer available.
Why don't you check out the Active Nearfield Monitors category page"
Thomann use "currently unavailable" for other items, thus it seems it isn't temporary.
I emailed the guys directly and will let you know if they clarify.
Totally agree. It might be due to external factors like chip shortage for example.Interesting. I would be surprised if they were to discontinue this speaker following its rise in popularity. If anything, they should be raising the price.

Dear Customer,
thank you for your request.
Unfortunately, production of the Swissonic A306 has been discontinued. They are therefore no longer available.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Indeed odd. Maybe external factors such as chip shortage impact the production. The US chip war unleashed against China is felt by many business.I have also emailed them and they have replied saying they're discontinued:
Perhaps if enough people contact Thomann they might reverse this decision. I also believe Erin received A305 - I will ask Thomann if these too have been discontinued. Odd move by them to send them for review and then to discontinue them...
At Thomann.de they are not discontinued. The A305 and 308 were also discontinued.
They might get sold out soon, just as the A306 was, based on Thomann's reply posted above. At Thomann.de they are not discontinued.
