Meh... would have expected better than 76.5 SINAD (@ 8Ω) and better SNR;
THD+N (unweighted)
<0.015% @ 5W/8ohm
S/N Ratio (REF 1W - 20k BW)
>92dB (XLR), >89dB (RCA)
Considering it's running a Hypex NC module.
Amplification
Class-D, Hypex nCORE
Basic power spec conditions are not stated;
Power Output
2x70W (8ohm stereo), 2x 125W (4ohm stereo), 250W (8ohm mono)
Price isn't great either @ £500 in comparison to other offerings in the UK and EU that have much more power for a lower price using a NC252MP module... nothing is exciting me about this amp apart from having XLR and trigger.

Yes, that SNR does look a little high, probably not to any serious detriment towards the actual realtime ear but comparatively I agree.

Nope. not much great about this. Lots of way better alternatives. Probably will be transparent, but why pay more for less?

Any recommendations around the same price or lower in a complete package?

Just browse though the Audiophonics offerings. Gives you EU access (warranty and handling) to lots of great performing stuff from China (Topping, SMLS, etc).

What’s on the plus side: the Cambridge looks great.

Also, nCore is not the latest greatest from Hypex. Hence maybe the moderate SINAD.

Yeah, it does look good with the full stack, MXN10 and Dacmagic 200m included, compact.

That could be for the whole 20Hz-20kHz range which is close (depending the measuring BW) and following the S/N ratio measurement.

I hate it when conditions are not stated.

Honestly the specs look pretty comparable to your average AVR, except with less power and fewer channels. Don't see much reason to go for this over a Wiim Amp Pro/Ultra. Case looks nice, I suppose, and you get XLR input.

I've ended up ordering this as a potential replacement for my Topping PA7. I did some cable tidying recently under the desk and am actually annoyed with how annoying the external power brick is for keeping things neat under there, plus I just now fancy a cleaner aesthetic. The sound from the PA7 is superb driving my Comete 40th, and I'm expecting the same from the Hypex ncore, maybe even a little warmer still which would be a bonus.

The price is the same as what I paid for the PA7 and i have the option to return the PA7 as well if I end up liking the MXW70. I looked at alternatives such as the Nord AcousticsNC122 which is also Hypex, UK made, and would have got it with the SE case option but its depth and height make it desktop unfriendly whereas the MXW70 is much more compact and slots right into the existing space. or sits on top of the DAC.

Convenience comes at a price I guess.

Well I will find out tomorrow for myself I guess.

Based on some reviews talking about the sound signature
The whole selling point of the nCore series is being utterly flat, neutral, and transparent, at good power for a good price. All measurements have confirmed it reaches all these goals.

Don't bother with subjective reviews. You'll find it does the job perfectly fine and otherwise gets out of the way. As close as you can get to the ideal "wire with gain" for little money. Enjoy the music!

As long as it provides the sonic performance of the PA7, which I am sure it will, then everything else is a bonus, I will go monobloc in the future, so having something like this makes that upgrade later much easier as the PA7 doesn't have a mono mode and I have the option to return it too since it dropped in price by £150 4 months after I got it so may as well leverage that chance and get the MXW70 earlier than I would otherwise have for basically no extra expense.

Monoblocks are honestly a thing of the past. A past when stereo separation and power seemed to be a problem - which it really wasn't, unless we're talking about the 70s or something. Since then, there's been plenty examples of great double-mono amplifiers which are essentially the same thing except for double power supplies.

Again, my best brotip I can give: don't bother, it isn't worth your time, money, and worry. Post-industrial age, very affordable amplifier technology delivers a level of performance that is way beyond our very limited human hearing.

Blast some good fucking music instead and enjoy yourself!

This is subjective but still worth sharing my thought. Blasted my favourite music all day and.... Not great news for the MXW70, whilst the front fascia and general aesthetics are very nice, it falls short in other ways compared to the Topping PA7 which I now have a new found respect for.

1: The rest of the housing feels cheaper pressed Alu vs the thicker CNC machined (assuming given the quality of it and thickness) housing of the PA7, only the front panel is the standout high quality material on the MXW70. Not a problem as the front panel is what you see the most and touch I guess. The MXW70 does look more "high-end" vs the glossy plastic front fascia on the PA7 though which is also a scratch magnet.

2: The power LED is brighter than I expected. It's bright enough to be distracting in dimmer lighting when gaming or watching something. In standby mode it gets dimmer and is about the same brightness as the PA7 LED when that is in normal active mode. The PA7's LED goes off completely in standby mode.

3: The speaker binding posts on the PA7 look and feel more expensive/robust and lock tighter as well.

4: MXW70 is smaller than I expected, but still much larger than the PA7 in depth.

5: The sound signature between both is noticeably different and immediately obvious regardless of music being played. Midrange vocals on the PA7 have more of a natural timbre and the soundstage is a bit wider in this region of the FR as well. PA7 is more musical/alive if that makes sense which is exactly why I like the PA7, the MXW70 by comparison has that Cambridge Audio house-sound that I am now reminded of when I had a CA integrated amp back in the day and years later tried out a pair of the brand's 3-way floortsanders. both of which I returned some time later for these same reasons compared to my then Tannoy M3 Cherry speakers and NAD C320 Bee amp.

Which one is the most transparent I cannot say, the DAC (Luxsin X9) is in NOS and Bypass mode for DAC filters and sound effects and PEQ so no colouration there.

So at its original price of £500, the PA7 sounds better and is built nicer than the MXW70, and now at its £350 it's an even better bargain.

I will just have to tolerate the massive power brick and route my cabling around this annoyance.

Yeah I realise now that it's not worth going monos given how good this already sounds, more power draw, more space used, more cabling, all for what will no doubt be diminishing returns.
