The Sound of Racing

A V6 Turbo doesn't sound anywhere near as exciting by comparison.

A turbo will change the 'natural' sound of any ICE engine. The turbo acts almost like a muffler in that it suppresses the individual cylinder exhaust pulses—less lumpty-bumpty out the tailpipe.

That's why the turbocharged Fiat Abarth 500 comes from the factory without mufflers.

Panoz ruled the racing audio world for a few years some 20 years ago. I'll search for some clips tonight.

It's not. Automobile racing is nothing without ICE engines growling. Who want's to hear electric motors whining. If I wanted to hear whining, I'd just listen to the wife . . .
LOL

Some. At least you can go faster without breaking sound limits in neighborhoods (I'm thinking of the Valkyrie). The Spierling is unmatched in any case.

I've looked around for a while, and what seems sorely missing here is great sound from racing cars and such. We're all suckers for great sound here, right, so why not post awesome machines that literally grind all their gears, and ours with it? Post whatever, as long as it sounds awesome!
I really like the sights and sounds of fully rebuilding a race car in 30 minutes:
Between rounds in Nitro Funny Car, there’s no margin for error—only the clock. This video puts you right in the middle of the Chad Green Motorsports pit at the NHRA Las Vegas Nationals, as the team thrashes to turn the Funny Car around between runs. Every system is inspected, every component checked, and every adjustment made with one goal in mind: getting the car back to the starting line on time. This is an up-close, unfiltered look at the intensity of an NHRA between-rounds turnaround. No commentary. No shortcuts. Just the real pace, pressure, and precision required to compete at the Nitro Funny Car level. If you’ve ever wondered what actually happens in the pits when the clock is ticking, this is it. Thanks for watching and supporting Chad Green Motorsports

Flat 12 going balls out, got to love older race cars
The down shift are giving mee goose bumps :p
The exhaust on that era of cars are just like a trumpet

Porsche Museum have a thing they call Sound Nacht
They start and rev a bunch of the display cars, i have missed them all
U-tube has a couple of clips but it does not do the cars justice

They are trying to do a bit of comedy, but Damn
Take the exhaust tone and imagine the dB lv

Race truck vs Ferrari, with the one and only, the Queen of the Nürburgring, Sabine Schmitz:

They're weighing down the car with bags of flower soil for getting the power to weight ratio close enough. Lolwat. "The soil is guaranteed to not get nauseous". And at 1:50 the singer is like "I must destroooy" :D

Audi 90 GTO, driven by none other than Hans-Joachim Stuck during the "Legends Grand Prix" at Salzburgring

One of my all time favorite prototypes, partly because of the lack of much sound. It was astonishing to see and hear it in person.
