Has anyone else noticed distinct surround effects, with stereo when watching the streaming hospital show "The Pitt "? I started to notice quite clearly sourced voices and noises coming from far to my left side and even left rear, as well as general hospital sounds at both far right and left. When it first occured, I even stepped outside the house thinking something was going on out there.

It's not anything magic about my system (Ascilab C6B and some ceiling splash HF drivers ala Duke LeJeune), and I've only heard the wild sound placements on that particular program -- but in all of the first 4 episodes so far (S1 episode 3 is a good one). Haven't heard such jarring off to the side or back effects with other media. Though very ambient/environmentel recordings like Midori can cast a pretty wide image.

I was wondering whether the sound guy on The Pitt could be doing some special processing to get those effects. Or maybe it's just some kind of happy interraction with my room setup and that show's hospital sounds, maybe no one else is hearing this?

i have listened to the show on sennheiser 560s phones and it was superbly mixed, but i do not remember of much "out of my house" experience, but back and to the left was great. i have said few days ago that i get the best experiences like that with my field recordings with simple stereo microphone.

there is no mixing compression stereo enhancement like people mixing tv shows have to do to make it "real" and 3d and "as if sounds are coming out of house"

i presume it is really hard to make such a great image from bunch of individual sounds that you hook up with dozen miccs.

i should inspect how they recoirded the show.

i have few eps left, i will try to focus more on the sound, since i did not think about it very much whilst watching the show, but i did notice the superb mixing.

the best show of the year for me imho btw

PS yes the music imho is the worst medium for such experiences, film and games are much better.
