So then does the 9038 alone exceed the SQ of using Jussi's software when the source material is PCM?

With this configuration it wouldn't be hard to find out.

If the 9038 wins then the 'resource constraints on the die are the bottleneck' argument becomes a lame duck.

You can upload custom filters into the 9038 as well. Although Ayre still uses an FPGA to do additional filtering in the QX-5. I can imagine the SRC/SDM in the 9038 is quite good, however still not as powerful as a quad core I7 processor. And not up-gradable as far as power goes. Anyways with both options on a single board there's infinite possibilities in combination with Hqplayer. Should be years before an upgrade to the board would even be necessary. We won't likely see the successor to the 9038 for at least 8 years.

The show in Denmark will mean visitors from south of Sweden and Norway also.

I would very much like to direct the customers to you.

Sonny Hi, no you must sell direct to customers until you have dealers/retailers in those territories.

Ok sounds good guys. But it won't be a set. It will be a single unit. And I've gone and changed the design now as well. It will be machined from a solid block of aluminum. It will be about 2" thick, and the length/width will match the PD2 perfectly. It can double as an isolation platform for the PD2 to sit on much like the MSB analog DAC/power supply.

All of the machine work will be done by the same shop Resonessence labs uses. Here's an example of their work with the new Vertias DAC:

Due to the new design, it might take a bit longer than originally anticipated to get ready.

Great to see you supporting Mike's business this way :).

On the show, how big is it? Is it worth making a trip across the Atlantic ocean to see it?

Aluminium work takes awfull long. But it would be very interesting. If it is a single unit it would makes things more simple. Is it fanless?

These guys work very efficiently. They can hammer out 100's of units a month if need be. Resonessence has spent insane amounts of money over the last 6 years with them to get to the level they are at today perfecting the process. By utilizing their services, I get to benefit from this experience as well. Yes it will be fanless. For file storage you can connect a single/multi-bay hard drive into the Thunderbolt 3/USB type C port. Or it can find any folder on any network connected NAS or Computer. 100% of control will be in the Roon app. All that's needed is the server and mobile device to run the Roon GUI.

That is the least i can do to support him.

It is not that big, i would expect a 2000 - 4000 visitors. But we have not have a decent show in Denmark for a couple years until Densen got tired of it. So Densen arrange the show... Well Lisbeth Sillesen is doing the job and she is a Beautiful Vinyl Audiophile. Thomas Sillesen , Owner of Densen, is a very nice down to earth guy. I would go for the Münich show, Bristol, Norddeutsche hifi tage.

Do you have a price point for the new one?

Preamplifier with DAC is around 1500 hours, power amplifier is around 1000 hours in development time.

Chassis parts delivery time for an batch is 6 weeks, PCB parts is around 4 weeks as we can do it out self. Then final assembly is ~1 day per unit.
