The kit we bought, our current setups

Colleagues, here is a photo of my system undergoing refit. The speakers here are JBL 4408 in a new enclosure. The original boxes were destroyed because of a leaky garage incident.
Is that an old Quad RTR tape player in the center?

Thank you on the menorah, I just left it out after Hanukkah.
Yes on the tape machine, it's a Teac 3440. I used to do remote recordings. It still works very well. The other machines are a Sony 766 half track, and a Teac 3300.
And a small fortune in tapes. I just can't give them up. I still drag out tapes and play them.

Just recently upgraded my amp & speakers (both refurbished, great deals)…love my new setup! Was using Emotiva TA-1 and T-0+…which is a great system- but for a smaller space than I have.

Great! Don't know if your a member at quadraphonicquad.com but there's a lot of folks
there that are enthusiasts of classic Quad gear in the tape and vinyl forms. You might find some kinship over there
if not. Cheers.

This took me a bit over 6 years (half of that was a project break), but I finally finished my dedicated soundproof home theater and listening room about a week ago. I've posted about it a few times in other threads, but not all the details. The room was almost entirely DIY from conception to completion, representing thousands of hours of my time learning, planning, and building. The theater plays flat to 10 Hz, up to 110 dB. Above 110 dB the infrasonic content compresses, but above 20 Hz or so it'll hit 115 dB.

AV Gear (7.4.4):
  • Denon AVR X4800H w/ Dirac Live Bass Control
  • Buckeye PURIFI 1ET6525SA 3-Channel Amp (for the front 3 channels)
  • Philharmonic HT Towers
  • Philharmonic HT Center
  • 4x Philharmonic True Mini as Atmos Speakers (June delivery)
  • 4x Revel S16 as Side and Rear surrounds
  • 2x Rythmik F18s in front
  • 2x JL Audio e112 Subs nearfield behind sofa
  • Sony 83" OLED TV (7' viewing distance, 46° FOV)
  • Apple TV streamer
Room:
  • Dimensions: 14' wide by 12' wide by 8' tall
  • Soundproofing:
    • Walls are 2x 5/8" drywall + 1/2" plywood and Green Glue between, 1/2" gap double stud walls decoupled with DC-04 clips
    • Ceiling is 2x 5/8" drywall and Green Glue, RSIC-1 clip/channel decoupling
    • Subfloor above ceiling has 2x 5/8" drywall and Green Glue applied between the joists
    • Walls and ceiling insulated and fully filled with Rockwool
    • HVAC supply and return have large silencers built from MDF, drywall, and GG, decoupled with DC-04 clips
    • Electrical outlets/switches have 2x thick MDF backer boxes
    • Floating Wicanders cork floor on additional hybrid cork acoustic underlayment (mostly covered by large rug)
    • Acoustic Geometry Studio 3D Soundproof Door (2 3/4" thick, >300 pounds)
  • Finish Details and Seating:
    • Walnut walls and trim made from a mix of 1/2" veneered plywood
    • Front wall and ceiling painted with Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black
    • A large Room & Board Cade leather sofa with chaise (comfortable seating for 4)
    • Custom built LED perimeter skirt lighting to illuminate the walnut walls and visually "float" the ceiling
    • 4 adjustable ceiling can lights for additional ambient lighting
  • Acoustic Treatments:
    • A total of 27 GIK acoustical panels using a mix of 7.3" monster traps and 6" Alpha panels
    • 25% coverage on all walls and ceiling
    • 8x11 Wool Rug with high pile and a 1/2" felt rug pad (1" total thickness)
My list of things remaining to complete is very small:
  • waiting on Atmos speaker delivery
  • stain/finish the maple door
  • build a walnut AV console to go under the TV (72" wide, 20" deep, 14" high)
It's a small space, so the ultra-wide angle iPhone photos distort a bit, but you get the idea. The TV feels WAY bigger in person than the pics.

WOW!!! Be careful you don't hurt yourself ;) LOL
What an incredible room you've designed into that small space, I'm sure it sounds awesome.
Thanks for sharing it with us !!!

After the amazing room @anotherhobby posted I'll show my tiny setup that I put together after discovering ASR while looking for a new system.

TV connected by hdmi so my SO can easily use it as well. The goal was ease of use, good sound, possibility of upgrades and also having fun while researching and putting together which I achieved for only a little over my budget.

Welcome to ASR @Akronos !!! I would imagine that Topping - KEF based rig is offering some amazing sound. Except for very high SPL's it's going to be hard to beat with that new system.
{are you sure those KEF's are magnetically shielded} LOL

This is my setup for a year now. Wich Bacch Audiophile with ORC DSP.

A NAD M33, Analysis Audio Omega dipole speakers and big custom made absorbers behind them. And two JL-E112 subwoofers. I've been listening to a lot of different setups.. But I really love what it is now. The sound of well designed full range ribbon planars is just amazing.

The room has been acoustically treated (ceiling, walls). When I listen music I put some (mobile) absorbers on the left before the glass pane.

I'm liking everything I see there. :)

Could you post a picture? I have a new listening room that is extremely live and while I am a huge proponent of room treatment, in this case, the mid-century aesthetic is taking precedence and permanently altering the look will not fly.

I am considering bringing in movable absorption and diffusion panels for the times when listening to the system without the airport terminal acoustics is desirable.

I just grab some (now 2, but sometimes a few more) "panels".

Yes, temporary indeed.
I'm thinking I'll need much larger panels on rigid stands that I can wheel into place and then roll them off to storage when WAF is in play.
