The internet is breaking down - or so it seems. Reddit is now unaccessible.

My inner devil would tempt me to register and pass a fake ID card e.g. as J. Epstein.
But my last brain cell says "don't"

Something happened! It's accessible again, the forced ID thing doesn't show up anymore. Weird!
Maybe VPN, or dynamic DNS?

Speaking of Reddit, what is it about that place?

I tried to start with Reddit not very long ago. On a group concerned with Canada where I live I posted a 2-paragraph comment. My comment was summarily deleted by Reddit's AI moderator. I posted no threats and used no bad language and no vitriolic criticism of any one. No one complained about the my post the brief time its displayed, and, IMHO, it wasn't particularly controversial.

It seems the AI moderated simply decided I didn't have the established reputation or gravitas to be permitted a post of more than a sentence or two. I won't back to Reddit very often at this rate.
Wrong think is a crime there.

It simply wouldn't work. Years ago I wanted to access a charity group that was on FB so I needed a login. It requires a name and home address and photo of me. I worked quite hard to make a sock puppet and failed. Of course FB has access to all the databases it needs to check names, addresses and faces. I would have needed to steal an identity to get in. So I still don't have a FB login.

I'm not a regular user, so not logged in, but when I try it works as such, most of the time. When it does not, I change my location (via NordVPN). Did you try "being in another country"?
They block some vpn providers completely from access already. That might change for the worse, I don't think better. But it's hard to block big ones like Nord.

So be it, it's entertainment, nothing really relevant. If the provider doesn't want me to visit, I won't.

Hm. Was it correctly localized? The Papiere bitte! stuff I mean. Can you say from what you saw that the feature was deliberately made for your jurisdiction?
There was a distinct lack of how and why. It just demanded "age verification" without any further info. And now it's gone.

Yeah i got that. It was a mistake.

I thought the most likely reasons were either they are preparing the feature and deployed it to a production server prematurely. Or they deployed a feature for another market that already requires age verification, e.g.uk or oz, by mistake to .de.

After all the posts here (in an open forum) this is semi true (you know why) :)
Not really - a glitch in the Matrix is also inside the Matrix...
Or, to say it differently - if I had to join a "real" (a)social network, FB would be the last on the list.

Sites concerning alcohol or porn never ask for identification, it's one click and go.
Yeees, now's the question, why I know this, but: here (and elsewhere) there is the discussion to restrict social media, depending on age. So I checked age control on plain Internet where it is demanded ... failed completely...

...failed completely...
And predictably so. All this is IMHO extremely hinterfotzig - the goal is intimidation and censorship of everything and everybody online. If it was really for the children, horrors like Rotherham and others wouldn't end under the carpet... We are past Orwell, heading towards Kafka.

I was going to tell you to "cheer up!", that "it's addition by subtraction!" It's Reddit, after all.

And then the beotches went and changed their mind! You should lift you leg on them in any case.

If only SBAF would do the same.
