The greatest recordings of all time...

I like metal but there is no metal album that has mind bogglingly amazing sound that I'm aware of.

That said, this tune is pretty good IMO:

My issue (with my hearing) is that I can't understand a lot of the vocals of newer Heavy Metal.
I have non-linier hearing (and an actual gap from 7000Hz-8000Hz in my right ear).

I admire his fortissimo convictions, but my casual canvassing reveals that classical musicians tend to regard Mr. Hurwitz with amused disdain.

Beyond the hallowed demesne of art music, there can exist but a solitary, supreme recording to rule all time:

I liked it when I was a teen up to about my mid-20's. Now, at 69, I wonder what made me buy it.

I bought a near mint copy decades ago, I'm guessing the original owner only played it once. Think I had 2 goes at it. So it's still near mint :)

I don't know who will get it after me but bet I could come back in 100 years time and it will still be near mint.

And "Doc at the Radar Station" ain't half bad either!

Let it bleed might be audiophike but has to be the most boring stones album out there ….. really

Joe Jackson’s Body & Soul.

How could any list of so-called ‘reference quality music’ not include that?

It is highly unfortunate that the Red Book CD version (released ?2005) has some nasty clicks. The original CD release is fine.

But the underlying recording and production is a tribute to what could be achieved in the mid-1980 and remains, to this day, a masterwork.

I just recently stumbled upon "You Can't Get What You Want.." while listening on my headphones late at night and randomly going through tunes I was finding online.

It immediately struck me for its amazing sound quality.
