Topping seems to make excellent products!
Thanks to Amir for making us aware of their great performance by measuring them.
You are right ... One can invest an entire weekend browsing on eBay, reading thousands of DAC offers, but hell o_O if you do not know, and do not have any direct experience with any of the listed brands (Gustard, SMSL, Matrix, Topping, along with dozens of others ...) the risk you lose a lot time and - if you decide to swipe your CC, some money, is very very high, indeed ... :(
If instead you have an objective support from @amirm - your "weekend on eBay"'s scenario is totally different ...

I would have easily exchanged one of my AKG K-7xx sets with your Sennheiser HD800 ... How much did you get it from them in liquid $ or EUR if I may ask ? ...

I sold them for approximately 50% of their suggested retail price (and they were in perfect condition). They were quickly sold after announcing them for sale.

Bought:
HD58X
HE4XX
Focal Elex
Meze 99 Neo
Oppo PM-3
Blue Sadie
Blue Ella
Audeze Sine
LSR305
Yamaha HS8S
Focusrite 2i2 gen 2
Topping D30
Massdrop O2
xDuoo TA-02
5654 tubes: GE, Mullard, Voskhod (my favorite)
SMSL SU-8 [due to ASR’s measurements]
MD THX AAA 789 [as per Amir’s recommendation]
MD CTH with Chinese LPS [out of pure curiosity for the hype]
Arturia Keylab 49
Mogami cabling, Neutrik connectors

Sold:
HD58X - grainy treble
Meze 99 Neo- too bloomy, nice fat bass and warm, miss the sound and on the look out for the rare Classic 99s in White
Yamaha HS8S - bought a house and my studio got smaller (yikes), so acoustics became too terrible for mixing

Selling:
Blue Sadie OR Blue Ella -Love he sound of both, but need something more musical, so might keep the Sadie
Focusrite 2i2 gen 2, MD O2, Topping D30- replacements listed above [SMSL SU-8, MD THX AAA 789]
xDuoo TA-02 and all tubes- maybe, makes a great bedside amp

Considering buying-
Hifiman Sundara- ready for the next step
Fostex TH500RP (I know :/) - just, yeah, curious
Fostex TH909 - maybe
Sennheiser HD6XX/HD650 - vocal focus and recliner listening
Oppo PM-1/2 - can’t find a good enough price, so biding my time. Such wonderful sounding headphones
And whatever anybody else shoots my way. I like clinical SS when mixing and for critical listening, warm and vocal focused when relaxing.

I bought AKG Q90 headphones and a SMSL M9 DAC.
I bought the kit to update my Metric Halo LIO8 to 3d spec, but haven't fitted it yet.
Don't think I sold anything.

FX Audio D802 - still very happy with it

Focal Utopias - quite good, but not a match for the "puts a huge smile on your face until it breaks Giya G3 sound"
IMG_20181224_182854.jpg

- a couple additional chromecast audio
- a Linn upgrade

Lots and lots.
My Sony PSX 555 and 75 turntables, amp, tuner and CD player, Cyrus phono and Topping D50 are new to me this year.
I bought and sold a Topping D10.
Sold my previous dac and amps (Doge, Nord and Allnic).
Bought Graham Slee phono amps, will sell them soon.
Bought an Innuos Zen mini, will soon sell my Innuos Zen.
Bought a bunch of mostly MC cartridges. Sold a bunch of mostly MM cartridges.
Basically I gave up my short lived flirtation with tubes/ valves, got a phono that I can plug 4 turntables into, continued to buy Sony biotracers, and went wholesale into a Sony ES fixation.
Overall, for once, sold more than I bought, just about.
Topping D50 (and D10) were bought under the influence of ASR. Slightly wish the D50 had a remote, but otherwise it is doing a great job.

Bought
Oppo PM-2
Audio Technica ATH MSR7
Shanling M3s

Sold
Sony 1000XM2

I bought the Oppo's as I had lusted after a pair or the pricier PM-1 for a while and when I saw these on a clearance offer and also had one of those Ebay 10% codes I pulled the trigger and haven't regretted it, wonderful headphones in every way. I replaced my travel headphones with the MSR7 as the Sony battery life was fading, the MSR7 sounds much better to my ears and for use on trains the passive sound isolation is perfectly adequate.
After a while where I just used my phone I just bought a Shanling M3s as it is clear that smart phones are losing headphone Jack's and the M3s looked nicely made, was small and was in a cheap clearance offer. So far it seems to be a terrific little product.
