The Case Against OLED

I know some people who only respond to texts. Emails and voicemails? never.

I know some people who only respond to texts.
Yep, those are the same folks that live inside their phones.
Go to a restaurant or any public place and you see them, sometimes 3 or 4 at a table, are they talking to each other?
NO, they all have their face's plastered in the phone screen holding text conversations with 3 or 4 others via
texts, maybe even with a few at the same table they're sitting at !!! I'd like to walk up and smash that phone upsides
their heads.!
Cell phones have created the rudest generation of people that have ever existed.

I don't know, I can tend to prefer that people keep to themselves instead of looking to cause trouble or looking for attention.
But I wish people read books instead or newspapers, feeding the dopamine part constantly is hardly ideal... people are looking for quick superficial kicks

Ugh ... I hate voice mails.
YAP YAP YAP...
At lest text forces people to be concise. Because lets face it: typing on a phone, even a smartphone ain't fun and we're all lazy SOBs. :'D

Generally I prefer texts to calls for a simple reason: I have the information in writing.
Calls are okay if you just want to talk but for exchanging appointments etc? Text all the way.

Short, to the point, can read it whenever and am not forced to drop what I am doing because dude wants to call NOW, have it linger in case I forget (I forget a lot).

A for sitting in a restaurant and looking at the phone screen: Depends, if the conversation is good, I don't feel the need to do so. If the conversation revolves around mundane and dumb every day stuff, I will occupy myself until someone present sends an interrupt query.

I know some people who only respond to texts. Emails and voicemails? never.
Texting requires me to use my hands for the phone. (If I am awake): Usually I need to be using them for something else that I am working on.
So those people will never get a communication from me unless it is to verify one of the options that I mentioned.
It's just the way it is.
A voice mail: again, unless it's my mother, my wife, a Dr. or Lawyer, it will not be responded to immediately (and when it is, the answers will be a choice of what I do for texts or a simple delete (most of them).
Most times I just leave the phone in the car so it doesn't bother me.
If it's important, they'll call my wife (who has been about 1800 miles away since Sept. 3, she'll be back on Nov 25) and she'll get in touch with me about it.

I use talk to text, it makes sending really really long texts easy! :D

I think world has evolved quite a bit. I am using the emoji language nowadays and seems it works well:p

No, it was at the Smithsonian Air and Space museum—one of the first IMAX theaters. I had to step out and felt crappy for two hours.

My dad got us tickets to see a hot air balloon movie at NASM shortly after they opened the IMAX theater. That movie kicked my ass. I felt queasy and lightheaded for the rest of the night. :D I did not watch another movie there for a handful of years. But any I have since seen were much better than the first one -- it had too many fast pans, etc.

You don't even need an immersive experience like imax to cause issues. Certain cinematography techniques can do it very easily. A famous one, is the shaky camera effect in Saving Private Ryan.

Why not just make a normal phone call and talk directly to the person?

I got an idea. Let's start a movement to use Morse Code for text communication.
Then the app could read and write in digital form.
Imagine the progress we could make in error-less speech communication.

I've used it a few times & it's somewhat helpful. But I am usually doing things that preclude having any kind of running conversation.
If I am in the same space as another person (hanging out, whatever), texts & calls to me won't be answered unless it's EXTREMELY important to do so (such as my mother is being taken to the hospital). Other than that, I won't be on the phone, texting or talking.

I hope you include TLDR's. :'D

Because, believe it or not, people aren't always available for real time communication?
It's much more convenient to have asynchronous / delayed communication, dire circumstances excluded.

This is usually the case for me. Mainly because of peoples schedules and work environments.

That's what voice mail was for. ;)

Voice male is useless in loud environments, because they can't hear the message. I work with and know people who have disabled voicemail!
Hey, I'm just messin with you guys.
But seriously, if they disable voicemail they won't hear from me, I WON'T Text. ;)

People an really be different, personally you will VERY rarely hear me call you since I find it really awkward, it's just something about talking to a person but not seeing them and instead hearing them with often a bad quality low passed voice or a with really annoying delay. Also people not only talk with their voices but also with their face and body so if I'm gonna actually talk to them I _really_ want to do it in person.
Text on the other hand is better because I can express yourself better since I have more time to write out my thoughts in a good and comprehensive way. People can't interrupt you either which is a big plus, and with the nice bonus is that you have a backlog in case you for example forgot exactly what time you where supposed to meet up.
The negative side of that is of course that you also loose the face expressions of the one you're communicating with, but that's not as important as when talking imo. But then of course that might also explain why internet discussions can get so heated ;)

I think my point got lost - newer generations are able to express most of it with emoji, and that is how they apparently think. If there is no emoji for it than I guess, the option is to chose the closest one to it. I guess still better than digital like or not, but sad cry from what analog nuances of communication once were.

Im one of those people that wouldn’t notice if the microphone on my phone would be broken . I even dislike it when people send voice messages instead of writing a text .

If you used a REAL wired phone you won't have all those quality problems.
I'll never give up having my land-line to use when I'm home.

There's something seriously wrong with this younger generation.
