My cX-2310 crossover died. I know.
You don’t believe that a behringer product could lose its magical smoke.

This poor little cap.

Would that be a 100nF tantalum cap? Tantalum caps are the only one's I've ever seen fail short circuit, I'm suspicious of them to this day!

Those look like ceramic, not tantalum. What is the function in the circuit?

I don't know - but it will not power on. I'm going to replace it with another one, and may just replace the four of them.

Any suggestions on dependable ceramic cap brands? Vishay, TDK?

Either of those brands should be fine. Make sure you get replacements with sufficient voltage rating.

Try to see if it will power up with the offending cap removed before ordering those parts.
If is doesn't much more may be broken.

To make such a cap turn black it needs quite some current/voltage.

I believe a thorough investigation might reveal crossover abuse.
A grand jury hearing might be in order for this case.
Todays promiscuous society has sadly allowed instances like this to become almost commonplace.
We need tougher laws

I did screw it into a rack and force it to sing. I also inserted multiple XLR cables into its rear. Oh, and I turned it’s knobs and pressed its buttons.

All jokes aside, it didn’t cost much, so if my repair fails, I’m not out much money.

Duz mr Behringer provide the proverbial circuit diagram??

I could not find a service manual on their site. I think they are 100nf caps though looking closer at the picture.

As @solderdude said, it toasted more than the one poor little innocent capacitor. I just harvested what parts I could, and ordered another one. Not a Behringer...

Appreciate all of the input folks. This forum is fantastic. I really enjoy the friendliness and chill attitude here.
