Teufel just introduced the IKONIO, a seemingly semi omni-directional active speaker. For more about that see the omni-directional speaker design threat, which I happened to be just lurking on. I am curious how well it performs in real life. Maybe it is mostly like an Apple Homepod on steroids, maybe it is something more. I am kind of fascinated by the looks. It tickles my steam-punk nerve; maybe as a Wilson Audio design for the less wealthy. I am interested to read hear/about real life experiences with the IKONIO. The link:

(For those new to the Teufel brand: Lautsprecher Teufel is a German company that started with selling subwoofers of their own design [if memory serves me well] and know sells all kinds of speakers and related stuff. Most of their products or of the sensible priced with ditto performance type. The IKONIO is a bit of a an outlier. They mostly sell directly on-line in Europe but they have a few physical flagship[?] shops.)

(If you couldn't guess, I like brackets.)

Would love to see how these perform. No vertical tweeter dispersion, always wondered if that mattered for omnidirectional speakers.

I would like more information. Are the side mids and tweeters phased and filtered, or do they get the same signal as the fronts? Would be interesting to see a sonogram.
I think multi-pole speakers (or whatever Duke calls them) can work, but in my experience there shouldn't be places with direct line-of-sight to two tweeters that are different distances away. I am intrigued but skeptical.

Doesn't look like a particularly well considered design as far as acoustics are concerned.

Like the Marantz Grand Horizon for example, more a show piece than engineering piece.
