I‘m sorry but how can you measure electrical signals, volts, amps, etc. with an audio interface like Focusrite, Motu, etc.?
You can measure AC voltages which are within the input voltage range of the interface. The interface doesn't care if its a 1kHz test signal or Taylor Swift.

For amps, DC volts etc, a good multi-meter is the best option.

Don't forget to look in the used market and auctions for test equipment which would allow you to under-spend but get equipment which you would not consider due to 'sticker-shock'.

For just level checks I would do this one for 36 bucks:

I wish I could get away with just a level meter. Not going to do it.
It really does not hurt to own one, though!
I have access to much TE, but this thingy is like those crappy pliers at HarborFreight that can come in handy.
And because it comes in yellow, your mate will think you are the sensitive type.

I bet it won’t work with AC/DC though :)
Can you say with certainty that Taylor Swift never played with:
Dave Evans,
Angus Young,
Malcolm Young
Larry Van Kriedt
Colin Burgess.
Cliff Williams
Brian Johnson
Phil Rudd
Stevie Young

your link actually does not say what it measures but I can see how a laser could be used to determine the acoustic wave front but only if it had the precision (not just 'accuracy', per se) to detect such short-lived air perturbations and if equipped with a PC i/f, then you can turn them into 3D spectrum displays and take over spinorama duties on the cheap.
Proof positive that more TE and more tools makes for more flexibility.

Haha—thought it would be obvious. It measures distance very accurately.

I dunno; the word "inline" normally applies to ammeters and is kinda misnomer for a voltmeter...
I think its a battery voltage meter used for DC power connections.

The whole audio spectrum 'voltage'? Or all parts of [errr...] Taylor Swift or just her mid [err...] sections?
@sarumbear got it. It's for checking power if you have a portable setup.

Now I think of it, not too useful but I've used it on portable recorders.

You should not have thought about it further; if you used it (even once), THEN, it was useful... as with a pos $17 SPL meter serving its purpose...
I had a few of those "inline" USB meters (multi-read-out) for a buck-and-a-quarter from ebay.
It is quite interesting how much information you can get from that unit just putting it at power input of a DAC.
