Tell Us If You Use 3.1, 5.1, 7.1 9.1 system?

How does that work for LFE content capability, tho?
What do you mean? If it's lower than 100hz it's close to impossible to hear where it comes from.

I meant in terms of multiple different signals for such in that particular system, not sure what your point is.....

That is an AVR post-process that is not a part of the original mixing process. This has nothing to do with a format nomenclature.
But it has everything to do with the nomenclature as it is used to describe the AVR.

Your definition is not the only way it is used by almost everyone else. Your definition does not have a monopoly on the notion of "correctness"

Sure. We talk about AVR post processing and home equipment configuration. Format nomenclature is not the topic of the thread.
I disagree. Format nomenclature is most certainly a part of this thread.

Let me correct you here. It is not MY definition, it is Dolby and DTS's definition. If you have an issue with that, talk to them. It is THEIR correctness, not mine.

Horse .... Dead

5.2.4 Gives incredible playback of Atmos and all other surround formats.
I just wish I had the room to at the side surrounds but it's just impossible in my home.
See link in my signature for details.

My setup is named by Marantz AND DIRAC as a 7.2.4 setup. What a bunch of morons. I'll call them and let them know exactly how I feel about them first thing in the morning;)

While Dolby and DTS may name their proprietary formats 5.1.4 for example it does not preclude a manufacturer from labeling an AVR processor 5.2.4 or any other denomination signifying multiple discrete channels in the subwoofer range. That would be the tail wagging the dog.

My, my, such anger over a simple naming convention ???

I have a 9.0 system. 5.1 with 4 overhead.
No sub but the main speakers deliver plenty of bass. Will add one later when the budget permits.
Meridian 7200.2, 5200.2 and 5000s. 4 KEF CI160QR overhead.
Marantz Cinema 50 feeding a Meridian 271 for the digital speakers.
