Short and sweet. It was cheap. Bought 2 of them. And the power supply is bigger than the amp itself. It was 6.99 with free shipping but they ran out on Amazon.
Specs for the ST Microelectronics site for the chip itself, as the Board and how its used can vary from build house to build house.
Bellow WAS the amazon listing. But again, out of stock as of this morning. It was a really good deal as they go for about 15 Bucks on average.
So lets get the photos shall we?
Caps are 35v. I think a bit too small and may not meet spec as is often the case for non brand name caps.
Things are pretty tight. But that's to be expected.
The Dip switches are the selectable input gain instead of a POT you would see in Car audio. There are Four selectable, fixed gain settings of nominally 25.6 dB, 31.6 dB, 35.1 dB and 37.6 dB. They are also listed on the board next to the left channel RCA input and next to the front PCB mount.
Be sure to check the bottom of the board for pesky bridges and shorts on the component legs. Its just a good idea when its shipped to you as it just comes in a static bag with some bubble wrap. PCB is the standard affair and seems to have come in good condition with no faults, cracks or defects I can see.
There are 3 modes this board operates in. One of them is listed on the data sheet to reduce turn on Pop.
The location of the "Pins" holes are here, but you will need to short the as jumpers leads are not included.
They are right behind the volume knob.
Look for C4 on the board.
Explanation of what the "Modes" mean.
It seems this board needs some help getting to 160w
Lets wave and give it a Helping hand!
The MAX voltage FOR THE CHIP ITSELF is 45VDC. NOT THE BOARD.
The Tolerable settings is 39 Volts DC.
STM tested this board with the 36 volt settings. So I got a 36v supply. But two Amps just won't do. We need Moar. So I have 3 SLA batteries ready to help this guy out to 160W of Flaming GLORY!
For that? We need a Proper Heat sink. Proper? I mean...
Lets just dip it in Alcohol! If it makes you cool to drink it. Lets see how cool it can get when it bathes in it!
I'm sure it equates to the same thing.
THOUGHTS:
This amp is just to play around with. So I thought why not see if it can push some subwoofers.
Meanwhile? I wonder if you can bridge it? Lets find Out!
Until then? A video covering the board:
I should blow it up this week. Have a good one!
