Any options that can be easily auditioned in the EU?

I know that Fyne Audio and Tannoy still make a "vintage" line but they're UK based and have few distributors in Germany and the Netherlands.

Altec and Klipsch would be nice but again mostly US based.

Thanks.

Nobody?

Are big units deemed just not that good or not that interesting by modern speaker designers anymore?

I use several pairs of Tannoy T12s/V12s. They were made 25 years ago and may be available where you are second hand. They are made for pro use in small venues but work very well as hifi speakers too. I think that they sound very good indeed and are incredibly good value. (Average price here in the UK is £300 - £400/pair). They are designed for use with subs, but will play down to 40Hz with a bit EQ. The Tannoy TDX-1 is a good simple option.

Manuals attached.

Here's a German option

Heco Direkt Premium. 11'' units.

Not sure how good they are though. Haven't been able to find measurements anywhere.
