Tannoy was literally synonymous with public address systems, in the same way that Hoover was synonymous with vacuum cleaners, in the UK back then. "The Tannoy" is what the head teacher used to interrupt class and give announcements at school mid morning.

So bullhorns make sense, I guess. All the same I was surprised and delighted to see the brand name on the cone of this one.

It appears to be the Tannoy HEY-LOH handheld loud hailer. A nicely compact model with what looks like a good, sturdy hand grip.

It looks like Tannoy may have revised the model a few times over the years as this info sheet about a Mark-4 suggests.

I kinda want to get one now so I can proclaim, "I am not a number. I am a free man!" Dangerous rat hole. I might need to get the blazer too.

Thanks for the brief history. The Prisoner, you just caused me to need to re-watch the whole series. :p

I love the Hey-Loh. Yes that blazer was great too, and Patrick McGoohan's speaking style and mannerisms were incredible.
