Is the firmware update worth installing?
Discussed by some knowledgeable folk here https://www.audiosciencereview.com/...ed-to-cirrus-logic-cs43131.23138/post-1824748Some people are claiming that the great performance results of CS43131-based devices are "fake": https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/is-the-cs43198-a-same-fake.403352/
What does @amirm think about such claims? Do they apply to the Tanchjim?
Thanks
The Tanchjim Space is somewhat better in performance, because supposedly the 9038d6k can have some interference issues. It's in no way a regression. Um, Tanchjim Space doesn't have many features over the Moondrop Dawn Pro. I purchased both and the build quality is virtually identical and I believe the measure the same. You're just getting the plastic window with Tanchjim. For me the FiiO KA5 with its screen and many dac related features is far superior to the Tanchjim Space for the price. Otherwise the Moondrop Dawn Pro is as good. How does Tanchjim Space compare to E1DA 9038d6k? I have old 9038d and would like to upgrade.
My current use case is only 3.5mm output but I may buy some good headphones that need 4.4mm output in future. My only problem with 9038d right now is that I cannot use TRRS connectors with mic. So I am thinking about upgrading to 9038d6k. But if tanchjim Space is similar in performance or better than 9038d6k and also has a balanced output then I will buy it instead.
I'd at least like to see some indicator for sample rate. Otherwise, it's hard to tell if the playback is bit perfect.I think the Tanchjim Space is great - why would you need a screen?

It may seem a minor 'feature' but you can toggle high/low gain on SPACE by pressing both volume buttons at the same time. My understanding is that you can only do this through the Moondrop app for the Dawn Pro.What features does Tanchjim Space not have but Moondrop Dawn Pro does?
Is there a way to tell what gain setting the space is in?It may seem a minor 'feature' but you can toggle high/low gain on SPACE by pressing both volume buttons at the same time. My understanding is that you can only do this through the Moondrop app for the Dawn Pro.
I would say its a great feature in terms of convenience. Reviewers should include such things in their reviews. Everyone can read spec sheets and say how great the device is.It may seem a minor 'feature' but you can toggle high/low gain on SPACE by pressing both volume buttons at the same time. Agree, it's on of the main reason I chose the Sonata BHD non pro, it has a very convenient button dedicated to switching gain between three settings and a led displaying it.I would say its a great feature in terms of convenience. It will tell you in the Tanchjim app, but I don't think there is any indication on the device itself. The LED doesn't change with gain settings as far as I know (in the app, you can toggle the LED brightness). Other than that, just press the two volume buttons at the same time and listen for the jump/drop in volume to determine gain setting. It's not something I do with mine, but you can cycle through DAC filter settings by long-pressing both volume buttons at the same time; the LED blinks as you cycle through the filters. (Again, these can be controlled in the app.)Is there a way to tell what gain setting the space is in?
