Honestly. Your restrictions are causing this to be a whole waste of time and money. I don't get it.

Hell. Even consider jbl partybox Bluetooth speakers if it's just for music only.

Mono sound over multiple Sonos speakers would work fine for instance.
In fact, I think we often don't realise many venues (bars, restaurants, clubs) have this kind of setup.
 
I agree with those who suggest a series of three or four Bluetooth speakers that connect to a single network.
Three JBL PartyBox 120s for less than €300 each, and I think you'd fill a very large space with powerful, fun music.

Yes, although you can make some kind of stereo by alterning L and R speakers (but it might sound weird in the middle of the room)
