The first movement is dark. It gives expression to the worries and anxieties that affect us all--climate change, the threat of nuclear war in an increasingly belligerent global political environment and the economic woes that are affecting so many of us. This movement uses a 4-note motif, C-C#-E-Eb, and exploits it in numerous ways. Though there is a lighter section that expresses the hope that humanity might find a more empathetic way of living, the piece contains much chromaticism and dissonance and ends softly after much turmoil.

The 2nd movement takes the motif of the 1st movement and treats it differently. The harmonic scheme and textures are different and I use much triadic arpeggiation to create the forward momentum. This movement uses 7 software synthesizers to provide the arpeggiated "rhythm section" and the mood of this music is "positive", it doesn't attempt to express anything about the world we live in and instead the meaning is self-contained in the movement itself.

The music was produced with software synths Dune, FM8, Hive and Zebra and with the Vienna Symphonic Library Orchestral Cube.

I hope you enjoy listening.
