SVS Ultra Evolution

If they are no good for stereo, they are no good for HT either. HT is not the leftover from stereo, it also requires genuinely good speakers and there are many. These seem to be going lower, but then there are subwoofers for that that do even a better job.

You don't want the sound of the car door closing or the birds singing to be "artificial"?

Joking aside, there are many aspects of HT like drums, voices, music, that require competent speakers. I never heard these, so no specific comments except the general ones above.
For purists like us, maybe. But some people may prefer the bass boost or emphasised frequency range somewhere for "clarity" or impact of sorts. I do wonder about compression data that shows you get extra output at a spike frequency.
I visited the SVS booth at the CES and listened to the Ultra Evolution Pinnacle. Each tower has two vented compartments each containing two 8" drivers, for a total of four compartments containing a total of eight drivers. I didn't attempt to distinguish the tuning frequency of the vent although I'm curious. My informal listening impression was "excellent bass". The imaging was smeared (there was no "holographic" pretense, or as Siegfried Linkwitz might remark, there was no "headphones at a distance").
Port tuning is about 31Hz according to the measurements on Erin's Audio Corner. They also have the noughties' "movie" bass boost hump at 80Hz.

I think these might demo well in the showrooms for some(sizzle and boom), but it only took a few reference songs to confirm these aren't for me. I don't recall exactly what the towers were doing between 1-5khz when Erin measured them, but vocals sound hollowed out. Played the same set of songs with the KEF Q7 Metas, and just so much more natural sounding..

The bass is good for a bookshelf and the imaging is pretty good too, I even appreciate the aesthetics of the design and the build quality seems above average for this price range.

Tonality, just not my cup of tea.

Svs Ultra Evolution bookshelf.
A bit of a apples / oranges comparison $600 SVS bookshelf against the $900 KEF Q7 Meta towers?

I think the specific lines will be crossed shop. (Concerto vs Evo bookshelf is within $100) I was mainly focused on the tweeter/midrange performance between the two.
I used the graphic EQ in my Denon X3800h after looking up the spin of the EVO Pinnacle assuming above 100hz is similar and made some very minor adjustments. Dropping 4khz -1.5 and 2khz -1.0 seemed to help. Took some of the boosted bass out at 125hz too.
