SVS SB4000 or SB16 Ultra

Thank you for all your time, thoughtful comments and suggestions. I do realize that knowing if the additional subs would cure the nulls is a roll of the dice. But since I've tried everything from Toole to web forums, additional subs seem to be my last shot. SVS does have a 45-day return policy, so if they don't work, I'll send them back.

I was hoping I would get some information on which subs would be the better choice, like if there would be any issues mixing the two sizes or if the four subs would sound better being the same or mixed, maybe I should get two PB4000s, would sealed and ported subs work?

However, again thank you all for your time :)
There's no inherent issue with mixing different sizes and types of subwoofers, though it may take more effort to achieve the desired response and a smooth crossover blend.

My “guess” would be 4 SB16s, followed by 2 SB4000s + 2 SB16s, followed by 4 SB4000s. All in need of a remote calibrator to help solve your room dilemma.

BTW new bass toys are the best kind of adult toys. The best kind.

Thanks to everyone who replied to this post, and with a lot of work, "I have eliminated my Nulls" I now have a decent bass response.

How I did it:

Added - MiniDsp 2x4 Flex, two more SVS SB4000 and a MiniDsp UMIK-2
Read cover to cover - MSO and REW
Moved around the subs to find the best spot.
Ran sweeps to find the best STSV and MLP, found six positions worked best
Sweep four subs at MLP and aligned to subs with REW to help MSO get the best SPL
Minor mic movements to get the best outcome from all six positions.
Entered delays and inverts into DSP
Set up MSO and ran adjusting settings for each optimization
Found one with a decent curve and enough filters left to touch up the response.
Added delays and inverts to DSP touched up final curve. :):)

Again, thank you for all your help!

After therapy, I'll be able to enjoy my system.

There is nothing that helps more than brute force in difficult situations - 4 vs 2 is a whole different story.

I don't think you need to care about SPL any more - there should be headroom to spare with 4 subs.

What I find most difficult after the tech part of the sub setup is done is how to adapt sub performance to the real life content. Artistic intention for some was to provide limited bass response and the others might have gone too far in that respect - based on the reference setup levels.

I have about 35db headroom at 80spl.

Yeah, I do find myself adjusting the gain more on singles than albums but, I do enjoy all the new band members that join the performance.

I don't know what took longer, the learning or doing?
Absolutely, I have everything backup up with a copy in the safe deposit box.
To me it is the journey of learning that is the most enjoyable part of buying new stuff.
