Regarding the hissing issue, now that this model has been revised to the Revolution model with XLR do we expect the hissing to be completely resolved? does anyone have any experience with the SB3000 Revolution?

Balanced connections rarely affect hiss. Balanced is better for eliminating hum at 60Hz and 120Hz in North America or 50Hz and 100Hz in Europe. The hiss problem is inherent to the amps. I had both my SB2000 plate amps replaced under warranty due to developing problems with hiss.

For years I had two SB2000s, no hiss. Upgraded to dual SB3000s, no hiss. Shortly after doing that the 3000R was released, and SVS exchanged for the new models, again, no hiss. Great subwoofer.

Developing? That's a strange occurrence for a plate amp to develop a hiss that wasn't there originally.
I've got 2 original SB2000's here, both 5+ yo and neither have any hiss or hum issues. Knock Wood.

Well, they were silent at first unless I put my ear within a few inches of the speaker, and ~11 months later, I could hear a "shhhhhhhhh" sound from 8' away. Both of them were purchased at the same time, and both started hissing around the same time. SVS gave me no trouble with the warranty replacements. They simply asked if I was comfortable doing the swaps myself and sent pre-paid labels to return the old amps for evaluation.

My SB3K had the hiss from day one and its still there it at its initial level, after quite a few years. I can only hear it in complete silence, so not something to bother me much though, but I still know it's there.
