SVS 3000 Micro REvolution

Have these been measured anywhere yet?
Ive had mine since Thursday last week. Had not had the chance to make any measurements or even re-adjust my room correction. Still using the same correction and placement as where my original SB-3000 (full size) was located. Will spend time to measure this coming weekend.
 
If my math is correct, switching from 2 8-inch drivers to 2 9-inch drivers increases the total driver area by over 25%.
Which equals 2dB more output for the same excursion. Unless they also increased excursion, the difference will be quite small.

Another member reported, "I took the time to overlay the FR from the old 3000 Micro (purple) and the new 3000 Micro Revolution (green).
The Revolution adds about 6 dB output on 20 Hz, which IMO is significant.

They did increase the amp size so I am sure they get extra excursion but with an enclosure this small there are real physical limit that can not be overcome including at some point the limits of the air itself inside the enclosure. Hoffman's Iron law is a real thing.

6 dB more is impressive but to keep in perspective the threshold of hearing at 20 Hz is ~78 dB so this is just barely getting there and assuming it performs like the previous version there is massive distortion (35%+) which due to fletcher munson will actually be creating perceived louder distortion products at 40 Hz than the 20 Hz fundamental. I don't want to be a downer as this is good performance for something this size and price. It is just being a "bass head" and having experienced bass with 110+ dB with <3% distortion and 5 ms group delay I don't want people to miss out on this experience by believing, as was mentioned up thread, that this sub means "subs are now a solved problem". Subs are a solved problem but not one this small. The limits are physics and technology can only do so much.

As the graph itself notes, you have to keep in mind that this does not represent maximum output capability. This makes the frequency response graph of limited usefulness, since maximum output capability is generally what we are concerned about most in a subwoofer. Otherwise, you can just make whatever frequency response you want with EQ.

I disagree with you on this. This would require a new way to move air that doesn't rely on the physical displacement and pressure relationships we currently use. Have you heard of the Repel Attack Driver technology used in Branes portable speakers? I bought one to test it out (and i'm keeping it). Hearing clean sub bass that low coming out of a lunch pail is so confusing. When you turn the unit it, you hear it briefly pressurize. Its crazy lol. They also have a unit for commercial use. I'm so curious to see what the next 10-15 years looks like with driver design.

I can't find the post from but apparently small subs are up agsinst the limits of air itself, where moving a small driver faster and further the air actually becomes non linear and distortion goes through.the roof. Time will tell. I think they will revise Hofmann's Law at some point.

Their website says they have broken Hoffman's Iron law and the concept can be scaled from ear buds to giant PA systems. Unfortuneatly no details ( understandable) and no measurements which is disappointing. Hopefully @amirm can measure one soon... at least they are easy to ship.

Interesting to see this Purifi-like rubber Surround.

I mean the 3000 Micro R is not a breakthrough invention but a clear improvement of its predecessor for nearly the Same Price. (~299€ more in Europe at the Moment then in US)
For me the question is how it compares to the much more costly Kef KC62 and KF or KC92. Erin from Erins audio corner tested both and the old svs so a review from him about the new svs 3000 Micro R l Revolution would be nice.
For me a possible solution to have something similar Like my Kef KF92 but with protected Drivers again Kids Fingers and a App with eq. Lets see.

The new Micro Revolution Drivers got 27,3 mm xmax excursion, the old model got 24 mm xmax excursion. So 13,75% more xmax ? But the xmech is lower now, guess xmax is the important value?

If you watch Erins comparison Video from the old svs micro and the Kef kc62 and the kf92 and kc62 comparison, the new svs Micro Revolution should be between the kf92 and the kc62. My guess with the Data we have yet :)

I got the 3000 micro r too, havent messed around with it yet. Im using it in a small 3.5m w x 2.5m l x 2m h room and for music it sounds nice.. I tried a few movies too, this sub will not reach ~20hz at acceptable volume levels in a meaningfull way (unless you go pretty high in volume) guess that is expected considering its size.

Also. Can you hear an audible click, probably from a relay switch, when your new Micro goes from standby to ON and vice versa?

if i put my ear next to it i can hear it turn on, its a clicking sound idd .. from any other position besides next to it is not audible. You getting loud clicks on yours ?
